It is a love boat:
They did bring non-lethal weapons but they proved to be completely ineffective so they had to use their sidearms to defend their lives. Why do people keep acting like it was a love-boat? There was an angry mob onboard. I would undertand if the Commandos fast roped down and started to gun down people, but they didn't. The mob was waiting for them.
Yeah guys, the commandos are the real victims here. These days are crazy, can't a pirate rappel down from a helicopter without being beaten with sticks? I'm sure they never saw it coming.
This may not be exaggerated by the actual soldiers, but by the news report. Just try to look through that. Sounds like they boarded (for what reason?) and were mobbed by the people onboard. I guess some hitting, maybe stabbing, whatever, all that. Stole the commandos' weapons and shot at them. I don't know if there were attempts made to use LTL, but it doesn't really matter. I don't get why nobody understands this. If someone wants to kill you, it's perfectly in your right to fight back in any way. I don't know how procedure goes in the IDF, but that's just as far as us FP'ers are concerned. I'm glad this thread isn't another one of those "LETS HATE THE MILITARY TOGETHER" complaint circles, at least it's not yet.
It is a love boat:
this is what killing people has been reduced to, shitty parodies this isn't funny, it's just depressing
"Hey, Paul, you got some murder in your eyes..." "Oh? Must have been from lunch, just... Lemme..." "No, still some in the right one." "Ugh, uhhh... Ah! There, any left?" "Nahh, you got it all."
this is what killing people has been reduced to, shitty parodies this isn't funny, it's just depressing
It's not a parody. It's satire. At least in my eyes.
this is what killing people has been reduced to, shitty parodies this isn't funny, it's just depressing
This is Facepunch, we make a living out of laughing at taboo.
This is Facepunch, we make a living out of laughing at taboo.
there's nothing taboo about death, and it isn't facepunch, it is israel and hamas letting people die for politics but fp is more interested in politics than it will ever be in human life [editline]08:12PM[/editline]
It's not a parody.
It's not a parody. It's satire. At least in my eyes.
That's because there is murder in them! :arghfist::jihad:
satire shouldn't fuel idiocy
Never said whether it was idiocy or not. Just that it was satire.
it's just depressing
This somehow reminds me of the Kent State shootings, soldiers got cornered, activists were using harmful force, shit went down. Only this time they had the right to be where they were with guns...
A U.S. citizen who lived in Turkey is among the nine people killed when Israeli commandos stormed a Turkish aid ship heading for the Gaza Strip, officials said today. The victim was identified as Furkan Dogan, 19, a Turkish-American. A forensic report said he was shot at close range, with four bullets in his head and one in his chest, according to the Anatolian news agency. Furkan Dogan, 19, was one of the nine people killed by Israeli commandos. Dogan was a high school student studying social sciences in the town of Kayseri in central Turkey. He was born in Troy, N.Y., and moved to Turkey at the age of 2. He will be buried in his hometown tomorrow. Dogan's body was returned to Turkey today along with eight others, all Turkish nationals, who were on board the Mavi Marmara. Related Israeli PM Says Aid Ship Was 'Not a Love Boat'Clinton to Israel: Make 'Credible' Flotilla Probe WATCH: World Condemns Israel The ship was sponsored by a Turkish charity , the Foundation for Human Rights and Freedoms and Humanitarian Relief (IHH) and was carrying aid to Gaza in defiance of the Israeli blockade. The charity released the names of all nine dead. All are male and the ages range from 32 to 61. The Mavi Marmara formed part of a flotilla that was organized by the Free Gaza movement and intended to break the three-year Israeli blockade on the embattled Palestinian enclave. Israeli commandos rappelled onto the decks of the six ships Monday, but on the Mavi Marmara the passengers battled the soldiers with metal rods, wrested weapons from soldiers and, according to the Israeli military, fired on them. Nine people died and more than 30 were wounded, including several Israeli troops. Click here to return to the "World News" page. The activists on board the ship told a very different version of events from the one released by the Israeli military. A Canadian on board, Farooq Burney, described watching an elderly man bleed to death. The head of a Turkish charity that organized the aid flotilla said an Indonesian doctor was shot in the stomach and a photographer was shot in the forehead.
From ABC News http://abcnews.go.com/WN/Media/american-killed-gaza-aid-flotilla/story?id=10814848 http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/jun/04/gaza-flotilla-attack-autopsy-results http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/06/03/furkan-dogan-us-citizen-k_n_599173.html
Yeah guys, the commandos are the real victims here. These days are crazy, can't a pirate rappel down from a helicopter without being beaten with sticks? The United States Coast Guard is a pirate organization. Alert the press.
I think there's enough threads about the ship.....
i don't mean to sound like an asshole but what makes this person more important than the other eight?
He's American!
i don't mean to sound like an asshole but what makes this person more important than the other eight?
hes an american, which means the Israel army dun fucked up.
i don't mean to sound like an asshole but what makes this person more important than the other eight?
He was shot in the head 4 times, it brings up the question as to how the IDF commandos defended themselves. Remember even the IDF claimed they were only armed with sidearms, shooting someone in the head four times with a pistol is not easy feat when your acting under self defense.
I generally dislike Israel but this whole situation is just a bit over the top. Should have Israel boarded the ship? Probably not. Did the activists really have to start attacking them (if that's the true story)? Probably not.
Trigger happy finger?

Well actually if I was dying I would want to shoot whoever was attacking me at least several times, although I'd imagine commandos are trained to shoot once and make it count.

Did the Activists do something wrong? Yes, probably even more so. Israel does some shady shit but this isn't one of them.
hes an american, which means the Israel army dun fucked up.
He was born in America, but moved to Turkey when he was 2. I don't see how his American birth really matters. To me, he was a Turk.
What do you think that Israel has done wrong?
He was born in America, but moved to Turkey when he was 2. I don't see how his American birth really matters. To me, he was a Turk.
thats not what his birth certificate says.
He's an American citizen so it matters by law, still it's not like the US would do anything about it.
thats not what his birth certificate says.
He was raised in Turkey for 90% of his life. I doubt he even would of remembered his life in America.
