You really, really, really should have fought it. Fuck what the lawyer said, you're probably going to pay more with increased insurance rates than the actual court costs you would have had. Not to mention, you've got a moving violation on your record, so I certainly hope a drunk guy doesn't walk in front of your truck (I'm going to assume truck here) at 3 AM. If a scenario like that happened, you would be in several different modes of fucked simultaneously.
I wanted to fight it, but after talking with my insurance company, they werent going to increase my rates. They never went up after, though i believe i had a mark on my record (think its gone now, heard it goes away after a few years,) and i know for sure my car has it listed on its carfax/car report record.
I really do wish i had fought it, for peace of mind if anything, so that kid wouldve had the marks on his record

At least your premiums didn't go up. I rear ended someone and mine went from 108 to 164 a month.

On top of the 1400 I had to pay to get my jeep fixed. She had a bent fender and demanded she be taken to the hospital despite not having any injuries. Granted I expected a lawsuit and it didn't happen so I guess there's that.
