Blockbuster UK goes into administration, people wonder what the fuck is going on with January

I think this is just the reality that we're changing method of how we watch movies, rather than them just going bankrupt due to crap economy.
Even though Blockbusters have already closed here in Canada, it still kind of hits me in a way...
I can remember as early as 1991 visiting Blockbuster and having my friends parents rent Bart Vs The Space Mutants for his 6th birthday, and having like 10 of us taking turns playing surrounding a tiny 20" Zenith TV with bad colour bleed. Later on getting to play Metal Marines on one of the SNES units that was in store for as long as we could.
In early 2006 my best friend became a manager and did some of the best sales in the area, and we got shittons of free rentals. He later went on to work on Cell phone towers in Alberta, right as the business was starting to turn for the worse. I knew that this was going to happen, but I still miss it in a way. Doesn't seem that long ago really, but I guess this is what getting old feels like :P
End of an era.
So that's three companies this month that have gone under because of their refusal to move with the times?
See, thisis a shop i DIDN'T want to see go.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see more go this month, either. Possibly, as has already been mentioned this thread, even GAME back in trouble.

GAME may have dodged the bullet last year, but it's only a matter of time before they go online only or completely under.

well there still alive in Canada last I herd just a very few left like 1% of there stores or left or something like that
I was talking to my friend earlier about wanting to play MGS4 and how I didn't have a PS3.
"I'll just use my sister's PS3. I dunno, I guess I'll rent the game- oooooooh. Right."
;~; Shit sucks. It's crazy how fast Blockbuster and the like went out of business.
Redundant companies become redundant, who knew
The last time I've seen a blockbuster with actual customers was like 7 years ago
The only time I ever went to Blockbuster in Australia was to grab movie posters for free.
