• When Copy Protection Was Fun
Oh yeah my buddy in Germany recently downloaded a cracked version of Just Cause 2, he said the audio for all the dialogue was gone and the controls were unresponsive...
I played the demo legitimately and found mouse input to be extremely unresponsive. That's not copy protection, that's just bad design. Needless to say, didn't waste my money on that crap.
Balance Of Power ARE YOUR PAPERS IN ORDER Find X word in Y sentence on page Z God damn you :saddowns: even though I had the manual, it was sort of a every damn time thing, where you had to look for it every time you wanted to play, I just want to invade North KOREA.
Whoever pirated our game forgot the font files, so while the game is playable, random people come to us complaining "the font is too small." Didn't even have to waste time on any copy protection.
Arma 2 and FADE in action! more FADE
If I'm not mistaken ARMA: CO also uses FADE, Except I think It lowers the game resolution until it's a few pixels.
If I'm not mistaken ARMA: CO also uses FADE, Except I think It lowers the game resolution until it's a few pixels.
Why can't all games support my calculator's 94 by 62 pixel resolution.
Why can't all games support my calculator's 94 by 62 pixel resolution.
Why would you get a calculator that uses pixels when you could get a PDA for the same price.
Why would you get a calculator that uses pixels when you could get a PDA for the same price.
And I assume PDA's don't use pixels?
Found the Crysis warhead copy-protection video if anyone's interested.

I heard it's not uncommon for developers to put bugs in the game as copy protection. Only problem I see with it is if it backfires and legitimate people get these bugs and the support refuses to help them because they don't believe they are telling the truth.
I remember Darkstar One would slowly change the colors of the screen and make it darker if you where playing a cracked version.
And I assume PDA's don't use pixels?
Most calculators use cheapy LED displays. Ultra-high end calculators that use pixels are pointless when instead you could get a PDA for the same price, do more, play Quake etc.
I remember this amusing form of anti-piracy where, should you enter the CD-key wrong, the game would install and then promptly uninstall itself. Cannot for the life of me remember the name though
But what if you were a legit customer and just made a typo? It would install itself and you'd have no idea why. Also, best anti piracy policy in the world is making a good game that doesn't cost fucking $60-$80 with the tax.
Creative DRM like in ARMA 2 , Crysis Warhead, GTA IV and other games that incoporates "bugs left on purpose" is the best way . It is at least 10x times better then SecuROM, Starforce, Ubisoft DRM and others ..
Also, best anti piracy policy in the world is making a good game that doesn't cost fucking $60-$80 with the tax.
I am sure that they could do that, but then you would have a game that looks like Minecraft (no offense, excellent game that I like very much), instead of something like Crysis.
I am sure that they could do that, but then you would have a game that looks like Minecraft (no offense, excellent game that I like very much), instead of something like Crysis.
The problem here is that you need more employees to develop a game, but the single consumer's wage does not increase. In the end games become more and more expensive. I bet VR games will be 200+ bucks

As the quality of these games are expected to get better and better there is a need for more people to work on each game, shoving the final price way up.
How can most calculators have LED displays, I dont know about you, but they are LCD here. My scientific one got about 100x100.
I read in PC Gamer about the things that happened in a game after the demo ran out: First you would be confronted by the game's tutorial NPC telling you to pay for the game. Next day, if you didn't pay, he'd return and attack you. However you could beat him. Every day he'd return more powerful then the day before until you couldn't do anything without dying. If only DRM was like that now, instead of install limits and shit.
EV Nova.
Glad to see some developers are still retaining "cool" punishments for Pirates.
