No guys this is NOT good. Adobe cloud has existed for a while now while still having CS6 standalone. Now they cut standalone. How do they even deal with offline mode if at all?
Well, here' kills my future.. and I'm within reach of a graphic artist degree..
You can always just use CS6.
It's a better deal but the drm is a huge no.
It's almost as if they want people to pirate their stuff. They probably do actually, they get most of their money from companies buying their software than the average customer.
When it comes to companies like Adobe and Autodesk, I don't think they really care at all when the average joe pirate their software. I knew I guy who once asked Autodesk themselves if he could pirate it, and they gave him the go ahead as long as he eventually bought it if he wanted to use it commercially. Most of their income probably comes from liscencing to schools and businesses anyway.

My dad remembers the first 'cloud', when computers were a big mainframe and terminals. it was bullshit then, and bullshit now.
If it's in the "cloud" will this mean Linux support?

That's basically how autodesk builds up the monopoly, average joe learns the program on a pirated version and goes on the buy it for commercial use.
The company I work for uses this. They just pay a monthly subscription and I get the whole Adobe Suite. It's not too horrible but I do prefer physical software than cloud-based services.

I might buy CS6 Suite through my school. Think it's like $300 for it all.

Set yourself up at home using the same credentials
Looks like it's back to Photoshop 5 for me.

I feel like I am the only person on FP who doesn't ever use or need creative suit software I have Gimp installed and pinned to my taskbar but I never use it ever, the icon looks nice on my taskbar though :v:
i dont think my school will be moving from cs6 anytime soon because i dont think the school can afford to fork out money every month for something that should be a one time payment
Adobe needs to do this https://www.dreamspark.com/Student/Software-Catalog.aspx
they already do?

W [editline]6th May 2013[/editline] I hate pirates
I was saving up for months to buy a copy of Adobe Premiere, but as I cannot afford to pay a subscription, guess I will look elsewhere. Does anyone have any good recommendations?
I hate the thought of having to pay monthly for my software instead of once, it's a program, not an online game. I want to pay for it once, and then have it, if I want new features I'll upgrade later on, if not I'll stay with my copy. I don't want to run into a situation where I can't afford paying to access the software because shit went down that month. It's a ridiculous thought.
Although it might be a little bit of a pain to adjust, I think this is fucking great. The pricing of the CS was fucking ridiculous, and I don't know a single student that bought a legit copy. I required copies of photoshop, after effects, premier, encore and illustrator which would have set me back several thousand. At least now, students have access to reasonably priced, legit software.
What? I bought the whole CS6 Master Collection for 900$
I was saving up for months to buy a copy of Adobe Premiere, but as I cannot afford to pay a subscription, guess I will look elsewhere.
It's a good thing my student copy of CS5 has everything I want for the foreseeable future.
I'm still rocking CS2. Get on my level.
I don't use adobe stuff often enough for a subscription to make sense either, my usuage is always sporadic.

I hate how companies everywhere think that the cloud is revolutionary, and that they have to switch to it.
The cloud worked for Diablo 3 and Sim City and it'll work for Adobe.

Guess I'll be running CS6 forever then, fuck off with your cloud shit Adobe. Whatever happened to paying ONCE and being able to use your software indefinitely?
