I was going to say I didn't think people still used GSM.
In the US at least, half of the 'big' carriers are GSM (AT&T, Sprint, ones that actually own towers) while the small carriers that just rent towers (Cricket, MetroPCS, BOOST, etc) are 85%+ GSM. It seems like CDMA carriers dislike renting out towers, however for the most part, the only CDMA advantage here is coverage in remote areas.
I was going to say I didn't think people still used GSM.
GSM is still by far the most used aproach. The market share is something like 80% or more.
So why add a "alarm clock" built into the coffee machine that automatically turns it on at a pre-defined time, so you only have to prep it before going to bed? Call me cynical, but many of the IoT things are often just complex solutions to simple problems.
have a look at the twitter internetofshit. sums up everything wrong with the whole iot trend very well [t]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CYOhv5gUQAEFdF8.jpg:large[/t]
I don't know. With IoT I always get the sense that the problem solved could have been done much quicker if I had gotten up. With coffee there is always the cleaning up, making sure you have coffee and water in the machine, making sure you have enough at home, getting up and grabbing it myself. In the end I could just make the coffee myself the time potentially saved from using my phone to start the process seems minimal and not worth the hassle.
My guess is that the connected coffee pot can also tell you when you're low on coffee/filters and either order more on amazon or tell you to go to the store.
