no the reason they get away with it is because the US patent office allows them to get away with it.
I meant apple just being dicks in general too
Like the weekly bullshit antics they're always up to as if they have nothing better to do but piss of every remotely intelligent person on the planet
They get away with shit like this because they know all their customers care about is the next iPhone 5 priced at $799 with 2 more features and magical changing aluminum body and glass screen that's sole purpose is for nothing but aesthetics to make it look like it's something worth buying
I mean what if they made the body out of pure gold and claimed it helped with making faster connections in the circuit board, they'd still still buy it for $4,999
pointing insults at random people you don't even know isn't the best strategy if you wanna take a moral high-ground.
i'm just saying no need to be such a dick about it.
Are people really allowed to patent things that a lot of other people are already doing?
I thought you could only patent things you were the clear original creator of and that hasn't been available for public usage for a long time?

If it has rounded edges it's clearly an iSomething knock-off and should be sent to oblivion!
Originally stolen to you by Apple since other people have used it way before them.

The patent system is incredibly flawed. It was designed for another time period, but it needs to be reevaluated or replaced with something less stupid.
Even my old ass4
can use apps while calling. Wtf apple
Didn't they already? I'm fairly certain glass covers were in the list of "features you cannot incorporate into a tablet computer without violating our copyright" that Apple released (also on that list were touch screens and rectangular shapes).
It wasn't, there was "flat screens," which I think is what you're confusing it with
I still don't understand why patenting is so broken. You should patent TECHNOLOGY, not the way it does stuff. Patent a specific way to run an app while calling, maybe. Patenting the action itself seems silly as shit though.
Breaking News: Apple sues EVERYONE for multitasking while on a call over Skype.
In Corporate America, Apple eats you!
The fuck?
Well, that's why I will now only buy android devices.
Coming up:
Apple patents touching and the ability to hear speech.
Apple sues greengrocers for selling unlicensed "apple products".
All major phone and tablet companies need to team up, make something that violates every single one of apples patents, and then patent "suing for breaching patents" so apple can get fucked.
Hmm even Sony Ericsson phones with the java based OS will do this like the W800i, W900i, and more recently the Elm/J10i2
Patenting the ability to patent actions.
Come at me, Apple.

Too bad that only Samsung and HTC seem to have the balls to challenge Apple.
I find it disgusting how a company that makes a device I really like to use is such a major dickbag. If only HTC could make a phone just like the iPhone, only without the Apple douchebaggery, now that would be the best phone ever.
It's also kinda ironic seeing as not so long ago iphone couldn't even multitask and now they are patenting essentially what is multitasking.

Aww shit, I have my old one in my desk drawer.
Only problem with that phone is the loose battery cover.
Otherwise it's almost as great as the Nokia 3310 when it comes to reliability.
And the blitz doubles as a GREAT flashlight.

So you've never heard of Smartphones with the Android OS?
So by Apple's logic I could open a restaurant and patent using forks, knives, and spoons to eat and prepare food? Then other restaurants would be forced to use clumsy go-arounds like chop sticks making my restaurant increase in popularity? Apple should just focus on making a better product instead of forcing other companies to make worse ones. I think that would be a much better way to stay ahead.

Pretty sure the use of the letter i in those products infringes on Apple's patent of iproducts.
This isn't legal
you can't patent things as rudimentary as that
"Apple patents criticism"
So basically, they're trying to patent every feature of modern smart phones until no one else will be allowed to actually make phones?

There's only but so much you can add to a smartphone until you run out of things to shove into it. Apple's designers must be nearly out of ideas, so they're forcing others to not take those last few ideas.
Either that, or they're just being major dicks to be major dicks.
Apple is basicly the technological inquisitor of our age.
heh, this won't stop phones like the N9, which uses swipe gestures to minimize apps
and even then it shouldn't go through, phones have been doing this even before the first iPhone, so Apple can yet again fuck off
I thought you couldn't patent something that was in common usage? Phones have been doing this for 10+ years.
Make a phone, patent everything the phone can do. Wait a few years and Sue everyone.
Good business plan!
Someone just needs to go and delete every file off the main apple servers.
The faster apple dies, the better off we will be.
what are they going to patent next? touchscreen keyboards?
