The difference being, none of them suggested an act of violence against the politician they were bitching about.
I've already established that what he said was wrong. I'm not sure I would have asked him to resign though. A simple apology would have sufficed.
Not only is his tirade absolutely disgusting, being almost purely consisting of ad hominem attacks, the actual content of his attack is idiotic. Saying that one thing is like another is not the same thing as saying one thing is exactly the same as another. So pointing out how being severely indebted to someone isn't exactly like slavery has nothing to do with disproving her point. As a note, I'm not a fan of Palin, but I also don't like seeing people be unfairly attacked.
here is a fair attack for sarah palin. she's a racist piece of shit who compared the national debt to slavery. fuck her.
here is a fair attack for sarah palin. she's a racist piece of shit who compared the national debt to slavery. fuck her.
I don't recall her saying anything overtly racist. Is she racist because she ran against Obama?
I get if you disagree, but how the hell is it racist? Being a slave isn't unique to one group of people and in fact, debt related slavery is more related to whites than blacks. Large amounts of debt have been connected with slavery for much of human history. If you couldn't pay a debt you worked as a slave instead. It seems her point, although very exaggerated, is that we will essentially be living to simply pay our debts if we continue to accrue them like we are now, and this type of existence is essentially a form of slavery. I don't agree with her, but not for any racism/sexism/etc reason.
The problem here though is that Palin wasn't referring to personal debt like someone getting stuck on a loan or mortagage they never pay off, but just plain old national debt. IE the kind of 'debt' that is usually brought up currently when politics goes on. The debt of the nation is going to affect the liveliehood of the people who live within it, but it's not enslaving said people, much less a nightmare scenario of the 1800s when developing countries were shackled down to imperial powers by way of debt payments which most people seem to be insinuating. I don't see peonage coming about any time soon. She tried to use slavery for her own narrow-minded political pundit yelling, and in effect trivialized it into merely ammunition to prove her point. One can't really begin to explain how much of a legacy slavery has left on the black population, and Palin trying to co-opt it in this manner seems to be just as idiotic as Santorum trying to compare Mandela's fight against Apartheid with the "struggle" against Obamacare.
that was much more tame than i expected i thought he was going to say directly that someone should shit in her mouth
Martin Bashir is a fucking dick. He's one of the people who brought Michael Jacksons career and life down
