Apparently the start button comes back.
It used to be called active desktop and was a terrible terrible thing. :) I've actually noticed this about most people who dislike 8 to be completely honest. Most people who like it or are neutral towards it, are generally calm and don't react much. But every thread, news or anything about windows 8 seems to bring out a mass of people who decree just how awfull and terrible it is, how it must die in a ditch and similar comments. But in the end offer no reason why it's worse. They say the metro menu is much much worse than the old start menu, but not why. They slather around how everything is broken, but never say what. They tell us how awfull it is, that the start menu is full screen, but not why. Since it's a bloody launcher that also collates various information and if someoen takes the time, can have your application icon be much more interactive.
Well I hate the fact that accidentally hitting the Windows button bring up an entire screen rather than a small thing in the bottom left, the metro doesn't utilise the entire screen properly, you're limited in resizing and controlling the layout of the metro icons, metro provides me with no advantages. I'm no art critic, but I don't agree with the aesthetic of the UI at all, (I think they just removed transparency to make it look the same on lower spec tablets) . The charms bar is useless to me and is no alternative to a shut down button/menu. Why not have a control panel and Computer/ explorer icon on the metro by default? The right click menu on metro is really annoying, W8 just reuses vista icons, I have no use for the ribbons. I don't like the fact the task manager comes up reduced the first time and puts programs and process in the same tab and I really hate that MS is calling Programs "apps". Also, removing features which were there in the previous version is just crazy, they put classic start in XP, so why no classic start in W8?(Notice how they removed classic start in W7 and nobody winged) But that's just my opinion.
