Incoming: the usual "everyone stop bitching, this isn't a problem, and I'm smarter than you" input from Facepunch.
Yes, no matter how genius you think your 14-year-old minds are, this IS a problem, and it has the potential to evolve into a HUGE problem for general freedom of information and the internet.
However, as usual, no one will get off their pussy-asses and really do anything about it. Yeah, you'll sign your little online petitions, write your little letters to government officials, etc etc., all just sorry excuses for saying "you tried". That shit never gets anything done, and you all know it. So enjoy your raped internet, and your increasingly fucked up laws and ideals.
I have this horrific image of the internet only consisting of Facebook, Youtube, and company websites :ohdear:
Isn't this the start of the whole 'net neutrality' problem? I mean if this goes global how high up on the list of provider speed priority do you think Facepunch can afford to be?
This thread is marked dumb. But on the off chance that some how in a way this is right..... = :suicide:
Consequences Will never be the same :ohdear:

It isn't a problem yet, and it would never work anyway.

The NYT article is bullshit fear mongering.
:siren: Weekly World News reports that Cyber Terrorists are planning on using Bat Boy to shut down the internet! :siren:

Run for your lives!!
So, basically, this isn't happening. And it probably would never happen. Google gets most of its money from ad revenue. If it starts making pages faster, slower, or outright blocking them, it will only hurt themselves in the long run.

It's true, google ads makes a shitload of money. I hate how google doesn't ban the advertisements that are malicious, like ones that give you viruses, or all the ones leading you to some survey shit to get your identity/credit card stolen.
I hate Google. I've never trusted them.
I hate google. They're trying to monopolize the internet.

Well that's a relief. How did NYT fuck up that bad?
The New York Times seems hellbent on fear-mongering the end of network neutrality.
I did a research project on network neutrality, and pretty much everything I found regarding any CHANCES of net neutrality being ended came from the New York Times, and they were all doomsayers.
Seriously, dig around Google a bit for things about net neutrality - chances are that most of the things you're going to find about how net neutrality is currently or will be soon ending is going to either come from the New York Times or be using it as a source.
Also, for those curious, this image sums up what the New York Times prophesizes will become of the Internet if net neutrality is defeated:

Funny cuz iz true.
But... it was already over. http://www.billboard.com/news/prince-the-internet-is-over-1004102232.story#/news/prince-the-internet-is-over-1004102232.story
Guys, this kind of stuff has been going on for ages now.
it's monday
So the internet dies today? If so hello outside world.
It's Monday now, and no changes what so ever.
A shame, I was hoping HuffPo to be correct for once.
It's been Monday for two hours. Internet's still working OP.
Internet is up still.........
Nobody in this thread apart from the OP understands the true implications of this deal.

Well that's not exciting at all.
The internet is over FUCK SHIT DAMN FUCK oh wait it's fine
Oh god oh man
i'll have to go outside.
CURSE YOU, YOU FAT CAT CAPITALIST BASTARDS.
Just use a local ISP who doesn't pick winners. Done and done.
Fuck, I have Verizon. However it's already super fast so I don't care. But strangely enough I have noticed that youtube is balls slow...
In Australia we have something similair.
I get unmetered, faster downloads from gamearena and bigpond because I'm signed up with telstra.
The internet was still hear 2 years ago it's still here now.
If internet tiering will someday happen in America, I seriously won't give a shit.
We're lucky enough to have a government that actually has a word in stuff here in Finland, so I won't have to worry about this.
