They seem to be more of a brosef sorta thing rather than butt-buddies anyway.
This wedding is brought to you by the letter G.
BERT AND ERNIE ARE NOT GAY
They are best bros

I even double posted to get the point across
I think it's cool that Seseme Street acknowledge the petition.
But I do think it would help kids grow up to be more accepting of gays if they learn it's ok from the media they watch as a young kid. As has been stated in this thread, there are countless examples of heterosexual marriage in TV shows and movies for children.

Yeah but come on, sesame street? I certainly don't think of sexuality when I think of it, in fact I kind of assumed that the characters were all asexual.

I'm willing to bet they talked about heterosexual marriage on Sesame Street in some form, at least once.

Yeah maybe Sesame Street isn't the right place to do it, but maybe something designed for slightly older kids. Like Snow White or Cinderella but with two guys.
it's a toddler's cartoon you fucking weirdos it doesn't need this shit, stop trying to remove the innocence of a beloved show because you think it'll help something that doesn't really need more help with right now. enough people are supporting gay marriage.
Err... isn't Sesame Street for toddlers? I just don't get having an episode about gay marriage for a little kid's show.
the gays are trying to project their satanic views into our children
even if you do do it, at least make up characters for it, don't change two characters that we've all come to know and love
why could shows for children include a straight marriage(about every fairy tale movie or show ever) but not a gay marriage?
"schools don't have daily bible readings, but teach evolution. this is clearly religious intolerance!"
I'm willing to bet they talked about heterosexual marriage on Sesame Street in some form, at least once.
Talking about it is one thing, actually having the characters engage in it is another.
Wouldn't this kind of enforce the stupid idea that 2 men living together are gay?
Do something like having a gay character in the show like they did when they had a character with AIDS.
NO. I support Gay marriage, but I think Marriage and relationships in general should be kept out of children's minds until they grow mature. I disagree with forcing anything to little kids who should be enjoying their childhoods anyway instead of preoccupying themselves with civil rights movements.

childhood is meaningless and sad now that i know it's okay to be gay
I don't really get the point of them getting married.
it would bring in the adult crowd for fap material
oh god yes bert put it in my mouth flap
But simultaneously the normal crowd would be lost, and roughly 44,000 soccer moms will use their collective power to end the show.

Toddlers shows have heterosexual marriage, why can't they have gay marriage?
If the petition was about a male and a female character getting married no one would pull the bullshit "Oh! think of the children" card.
but they're not gay
why would they suddenly have a gay marriage
i suppose we'll also find out big bird is a bisexual transvestite and count dracula's an albino african-american jew

At what point was it stated that they weren't gay? I know this a pretty trivial thing to argue about, but still.

firstly, you can't justify a gay marriage on the grounds that no-one has said they AREN'T gay - otherwise, i could demand that ernie receives recognition as an alien from mars, on the sheer grounds that it isn't specifically denied in the series.
secondly, i'm quite sure i recent read an article in which the producers (CBS? i can't remember) refuted claims that the pair were gay, saying they were simply good friends and the entire situation was designed to show children that people with differences can still get along.
e: don't bother asking for the article, can't remember where it was, sorry

well go for it man
have the writer from dragon age 2 write it
"i wanted you but i was so afraid i"
"you don't have to run anymore"
"oh bert hold me!"
She'd kill the show with her bad writing.
well go for it man
ernie's skin is orange. the colour of mars:
is reddy-ORANGE
THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE
Well it wouldn't bother me if they were to get married though as I do not watch Seaseme Street, though kinda out there if I was to watch it.
The stupid even about it is that once they married most of the kids would A: not give a shit and B: forget they were married (Unless it was exaggerated) about 3 days later.

cool, somehow acknowledging homosexuality also means we have to acknowledge that jews exist, which is apparently a bad thing?
have you ever made a good post?

i absolutely disagree. anything children see during their formative years can have a huge impact on a child, even if they don't explicitly remember it. if children are going to be raised on television they might as well be raised on socially conscious television which doesn't patronize them on the basis of their supposed "innocence" as opposed to TV shows consisting solely of sterile number-counting exercises
yeah the whole idea of a childrens show that only teaches hetereonormative, white values is really outmoded
At what point was it stated that they weren't gay? I know this a pretty trivial thing to argue about, but still.
I think where it says "Sesame Workshop said that as puppets, Bert and Ernie do not have sexual preferences" kind of means they aren't gay.
I preferred the Count to Bert and Ernie.
Just my 2 cents
The Count is the best, it's a crime to like anyone else more.
