The Petition To Have Bert and Ernie From "Sesame Street" Get Married, Falls Flat
I mean you're seriously disagreeing with me that a person's attitudes and personality are party resultant of their early childhood? You're legit gonna do that?
They are, but doing something as insignificant as having two puppets get married, for the purpose of promoting LBTG rights (Which in comparison with most of history is also insignificant) seems silly.
This is assuming all roommates are homosexuals. That'd be a stereotype, I do not support this, they should remain unmarried, besides their skits are totally unrelated to romance.
I don't even think there are ANY skits related to romance, sure best friends but that's about it.

i have the faintest, most distant inkling, whispering into my ear from the aether that if this thread were instead about the Count getting married to a woman you wouldn't have made this post
how many chuck-e-cheese tickets am I bringing home tonight?
Yes that's amazing you can get rid of one guy that is being a dickhead about this. However there are the rest of us who would be up in arms if someone like big bird became married.
I'm perfectly fine with gay marriages on children's shows but don't use characters, like Bert and Ernie, that don't really have anything going on. I mean, Bert and Ernie are just friends, not lovers or anything like that.
Just create some new characters, especially if they have no love interest with each other (at all). They've done it before. Hell, they should make a petition for a new character(s) that supports LGBT rights (so he/she is gay or transsexual), I'd be behind that.

Exactly. Bert and Ernie getting married is something you do in a parody. At least make up two characters for this instead.
I'm not offended by this, as I've said gay marriage is awwright with me, but there's a time and place for everything

it really depends on who's getting married. i mean chances are if it were two well-known muppets who had no obvious attraction to each other, then yeah i'd say it's fucking stupid as well. not to mention it'd probably be a poor choice canon-wise.
i'm not saying a gay marriage is "worse", I'm trying to say that it's obviously going to a point it doesn't need to go to
I'm okay with with gays and whatnot
What falls under the category of whatnot here
However, Sesame Workshop said that as puppets, Bert and Ernie do not have sexual preferences.
So they'll have sex with anything?
Bert and Ernie should not get married for one simple reason, THERY'RE NOT IN LOVE.

all human rights are equally important
seems silly.
to you
When I was a child, Bert and Ernie were brothers, and based of some cops from It's a Wonderful Life as I recall.
all human rights are equally important

Throughout human history it has had little importance, and once the fad passed it won't anymore.
When the first civilisations formed up until recently sexuality has had little impact, few talking about it, and nobody really seemed to give a shit.
People used to focus on problems in life such as praying to god or staying alive, after the wonders of the industrial revolution people began to quickly run out of these problems as their lives became easier. They began to demand democracy or free press and things like that, then when those came about they began to focus on even more petty things such as environmentalism, LBTG rights, organic food, the earth itself and other such. You have the amount of bullshit increasing until the government in power eventually runs out of money, its power declines and eventually given enough time it falls to bits as people simply don't care anymore and the whole cycle starts up again.

You think LGBT rights is a "fad"?

as far as I can tell, anything that doesn't involve rich white people is a fad to sobotnik

did you just step out of a portal from the '50s?
did you just step out of a portal from the '50s?
Oh so its ok for you to generalise me but not ok for me to generalise you?
yes
at least you're honest
FYI, the African Sesame Street has a character who is HIV+, to resonate with the high amount of people there who do have HIV/AIDs. It's supposed to reflect the culture in which it exists.
Holy shit really? I fucking missed that one when I was a kid!
I liked the green one in the garbage because he was like a big fluffy grouchy towel.
Also Bert and Ernie can't be married, but do a show where they attend a gay marrige thats fair enough. Hell have have Elton John do a musical number where he gives a muppet a rimjob, really hit home the points!
yes
You are terrible.
You are terrible.
means a lot coming from a homophobe
yes
Come on don't be that guy.
means a lot coming from a homophobe
because anyone who doesn't support this is obviously a homophobe
Come on don't be that guy.
he's generalising me as a pot smoking hippie because I'm not a homophobic bigot
Come on don't be that guy.
too late?
because anyone who doesn't support this is obviously a homophobe
uh did you even read his posts
he thinks lgbt rights is a fad comparable to organic food
he's generalising me as a pot smoking hippie because I'm not a homophobic bigot
not really, he's generalizing you because you actually generalized him first.
means a lot coming from a homophobe
How the hell did you work out I'm a homophobe. I'm not a homophobe I simply can't be arsed to support LBTG rights, or work against them either.
i just think the thing is ridiculous. gay marriage? cool. bert and ernie getting married? the notion of that is ridiculous.
How the hell did you work out I'm a homophobe. I'm not a homophobe I simply can't be arsed to support LBTG rights, or work against them either.
You can't be arsed to at the very least express support for it? All that takes is saying "oh hey this isn't a shitty idea" in a news article. That either means you just don't give a shit about human rights, which to be honest wouldn't surprise me, or you oppose it.
How the hell did you work out I'm a homophobe. I'm not a homophobe I simply can't be arsed to support LBTG rights, or work against them either.
basically, you don't give a shit about it (which is ok).
