Mother bear kills her cub and herself afterwards in Chinese medicine farm

Before anyone goes out there and stops earth-chinese abusing earth-bears, you can't say space-chinese wont abuse space-bears. Sure on future earth many of us will be against it, and future PETA will probably be fucking pissed.
But try telling space-bear that 'actually we're not all bad, some of us are really nice', as we drain him and his family of his tummy diamonds.
:(

Fuck PETA! I'm expecting TANKS to waltz in anytime now.
This is fucked up! I feel sick to the stomach and almost fucking cried.
I feel really sick now..
We are selfish. If it benefits us we will look the other way. Most people, including us here, will say "wow that's fucking terrible" feel bad for a bit then go about our day.
What happens if we discover a planet of spacebears with diamonds in their tummys. The diamonds are anything we as a space fairing race would find valuable. If the tummy diamonds were sufficently valualbe I think I know what would happen.
I don't think we are the good guys.
I made myself sad.
You say this but you're doing the very "feel bad for a day then go about your life" thing you're accusing the rest of humanity of. If you want it to stop, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. Change can't happen until somebody DOES SOMETHING. Even if it's just a petition that's likely to fail, at least there's the chance that SOMETHING will happen as a result. Maybe it'll be just a side-story in a couple of news sites, maybe it'll get enough attention that China will actually make a move to ban these unethical practices, but you'll never know for sure unless you FUCKING DO SOMETHING.
Welcome to Facepunch, where an animal's life is indefinitely more important than any human's.
Well.. no, but the least we could do is to let the animals live and roam freely outside or wherever nice before the farmers lead them to the slaughterhouse and slit their throats, or whatever business.
Donated $10. I know it's not much but I don't have much to give. I hope something is done.
This is just like those fucking idiots that kill thousands of sharks for their fins because they think it has magical health benefits.
If alien ambassadors arrive on Earth I hope to fuck they don't land in China...

Actually it's not like that all. Killing these bears for their bile would be far far better than what they are actually doing to the bears, which is giving them a lifetime of torture by keeping them alive as long as possible so they can continue harvesting more bile.

How would they know that the bears were in pain or even if it was abnormal for bears to be in crates
How would they know that the bears were in pain or even if it was abnormal for bears to be in crates
They wouldn't. They would just have a very skewed interpretation of the human race.
Apparently there are two ways of milking these bears for bile. According to wikipedia
The "free drip" method is regarded as more humane. A permanent hole or fistula is made in the bear's abdomen and gall bladder, from which bile drips out freely. The wound is vulnerable to infection and bile can bleed back into the abdomen, causing a high mortality rate. Sometimes the hole is kept open with a perspex catheter, which HSUS writes causes severe pain.
That's the "more humane" option.
I'm expecting PETA to waltz in anytime now.
waltz into China? They couldn't pull that shit off there, they'd be treated like bears.
Except you don't have to milk a PETA member for bile, it streams endlessly from their mouth.

If you're curious then the less humane method is to shove a tube or stick up the abdomen and let the bile flow down the tube.
A damn shame :/
It just makes you think about how much animals think.
I mean yeah animals are smart in their own way, but this is something really different.
The bear knew it would never escape alive so it killed his cub to save it from being tortured and then itself. I mean what is happening to these bears is fucked up, we know that. But this just brings it to a whole new level. That method is so barbaric that an animal will kill itself over it? That animal practically override its own natural instinct.
Eh i re-read the thread, someone said the same thing as me lol. Oh well, it is still saddening but remarkable what that bear did.
I'm sorry, i cant put enough smith emoticons here to display how sad this is.
So here is a sad puppy.

I meant the motive, not the method.

Do you really think that finding one thing sad means that I can't find others sad too? The circumstances of the bear story are horrific. The single case of the bear mother killing her child then herself is terrible, but the overall situation where bears live an entire life of this suffering is what is really awful.
This is not about a single event where x people or animals are killed, it is about an ongoing trade of extreme suffering. That is why it is "one of the most terrible things I have read in ages"
It's in China. Good luck changing anything. Morality and stuff over in Asia is way different to western nations
To anyone who thinks this kind of shit does not happen in North America, specifically Canada and the United States, you are very, very, very mistaken. Some of the worst cases of animal cruelty stem from slaughterhouses that boast "humane and respectful ways" of killing the animals. I'm not some batshit activist. I've seen it with my own eyes.
Couldn't have said it better, what have we become, no morals...
It has always been this way. Humans have always been assholes. In fact, I think it is safe to assume that proportionally there are way less assholes now than at any other moment in our history.
Bears are my favourite animals, fuck you China.
Man i hate that stuff like this happens all over the world. good on the bear to save its kid from a similar life of pain
Global Action Network, in collaboration with Farm Sanctuary, has released horrific video footage of Canada's largest foie gras producer -- Elevages Perigord. Using hidden camera equipment, our investigator filmed as workers pulled heads off of live ducks; smashed ducks into floors and walls; and punched and kicked the terrified birds
This is not easy to watch by the way.

I'm not sure if they're ducks or geese as I haven't watched the video since a couple of months ago but foie gras is made from liver of force fed ducks or geese.
I'm expecting PETA to waltz in anytime now.
No, they're too busy chasing after American companies who test hair products on dogs to notice all the atrocities China pulls.
Well, this is the most depressing thing I've read all week.
This is where all the hate for the east comes from

No it isn't.
This is where all the hate for the east comes from
I'm sure there are things like this happening all over the world.
