If your company was as big as theirs and you knew that tax dodging was so piss easy
I bet you would do it too.
I wouldn't because I have principles. I think the overall health of my country is worth more than skimming a little extra cash from the system.

So does the church.
God bless America.

So does pretty much everyone who could pay taxes and not really feel the sting.

I work for Starbucks, and it's really one of the better jobs I've had in a while. Their customer service training is great, they treat us incredibly well and they have reinforced an extremely positive work ethic. Compared to the past three jobs I've had, all for reasonably large companies themselves, I have to say that Starbucks has seemed the most friendly. We're referred to as partners, not employees, and there is a really strong drive to be able to work well with each other.
I work in a Starbucks in the bottom of a large office building, and we get a lot of regular customers. These people are always really talkative and nice, and being in the position I'm in as a barista I've been able to get a lot more comfortable with living in a big city than I thought I would to begin with (I just moved to Toronto).
As far as our coffee's quality is concerned, it really depends on where you go. I know that stores here actually have some pretty decent quality coffee compared to a lot of the independent stores around here. I mean, if you're really so keen on ridiculously good coffee, there's the Green Beanery at Bathurst and Bloor where a lot of folks go to get their own beans to roast.
And as far as being a big, evil corporation is concerned - to a point, they're not terrifically ethical. They've got an egregious number of stores packed close together, which makes it incredibly difficult for new businesses to start up. That being said, they also buy a very large amount of coffee above market price, and devote a good amount of energy to making sure that the people that they buy coffee from can thrive.
In short, while Starbucks' business practices aren't terrific (although compared to a lot of american companies, they aren't altogether much worse either) they are also not really an ~evil corporation~ either. They treat us and their customers well and I think that there are a lot of people in the company who genuinely want to provide a decent service.
WHERE DO YOU LIVE?! I MUST ESCAPE FROM THE SOUTH.
Just move up here to the Upper South. We don't have earthquakes.
