Dude, UR MR GAY, wasn't all that much fun. Honestly. It became really repetitive. sadfaic
:frog:
He said this in my class' interview with him, and he was surprised that we knew what that game was :(
He has that thing a lot of Zelda fans have. You love an old installment of the series so much that even proper sequels don't seem to match up. I blame nostalgic value.
does that mean when they take mario in a new direction he goes "what happened nintendo, i liked galaxy" because every zelda fan is weird when it comes to sequels. First they hate a sequel, then when nintendo fixes something they complained about in the sequel they go "What the hell nintendo i liked <Previous game>" vicious circle
Dude, UR MR GAY, wasn't all that much fun. Honestly. It became really repetitive. sadfaic
Super Mario Galaxy was fun
What people fail to realize is that with the exception of SMG2, no 3D Mario game has ever built off of the last one. They start from scratch every time. It's quite likely that at least one Mario platformer is going to piss someone who liked the other ones off. However, Super Mario 64 does have an advantage over it's successors in that it really doesn't employ any massive gimmicks. Sunshine had you dependent on a device that was completely alien to the franchise, and it's setting led to a severe lack of variety (and there were only like 6 stages). Galaxy broke it's stages apart into many small, linear paths connected to eachother by autopilot stars and had so many stages that each individual stage was fairly unremarkable. Super Mario 64 was just Mario in 3D. That isn't to say that a lack of gimmicks automatically makes something better, it just makes it less likely to turn someone off.
I like SM64, it's a good speed run game
I am happy with this. It was one of my favorite games for the N64. Shame I never did beat it, problably should work on finishing it.
I got to the final battle on the DS version but I never could fucking beat Bowser. That fucking STAR SHAPED STADIUM GODDAMN AIMING HNNGH
Super Mario 64 was pretty fun, so I'm ok with this.
You're okay with this? And what if you weren't okay with this?
If any Zelda games should be frowned upon, it's the handheld ones.
Bar this, of course?
Bar this, of course? [img_thumb]http://www.ostproject.co.cc/cover/tlozla.jpg[/img_thumb]
Oh, I almost forgot about that one. Really good too
That being said, I'm surprised Valve hasn't ever worked on making a platformer.
Same here. FPS's are fun and all, but I'd love to see Valve tackle something different and take their style of design and adapt it to a different formula. The Source Engine has plenty of potential for other types of games, like platformers, as you mentioned. This is in part why I'm excited about DOTA 2, it's something comepletley different from the usual Valve formula.
