Washington: A new, horrific footage shows members of a Mexican drug cartel beheading hostages from a rival gang Zetas, marking the latest act of violence in the growing war over drug-smuggling territories in Mexico.
The three-minute clip, which was posted on Mundonarco.com, shows five shirtless members of the Zetas cartel, marked by black ‘Z’s on their chests, kneeling in front of four masked members of the Gulf cartel, while the masked men hold knives as each Zeta member gives his name.
In the video, each hostage says he was sent by “Z-40,” referring to the Zeta cartel’s second-in-command, Miguel Angel Treviño Morales, who is known as “40”.
According to the New York Daily news, “40” and his two brothers are wanted in Texas for allegedly laundering millions of dollars in drug money through a horse racing company while the US has reportedly offered a USD 5 million reward for any information leading to Morales’s capture.
"You find yourselves here because you came to f--- us. Pay attention, men,” the video’s unidentified narrator says when the Zeta members finish speaking, following which three members of the Gulf cartel begin to slowly hack off the heads of the Zetas with their knives.
“This is how all your filthy people are going to end," the narrator says as the prisoners plead for their lives.
The video ends a minute later when the masked men hold up three of the severed heads, but he two other Zeta hostages are not shown.
“Very good, very good,” the narrator adds.
According to Mundunarco.com the grainy clip was shot in Rio Bravo, Mexico, which is located about six miles from the US border, just south of McAllen, Texas, but it’s yet unclear when the video was shot.
The Zetas cartel, which once worked as the Gulf cartel’s security force, was founded when the two groups split in 2010.
Fucking ruthless.
It's a horrible video.
Edit for clarity: I didn't go looking for it; I was sent a link to it, Meatspin style.

careful guys we got a real hardass here! who knows what he might do!
like I give a shit that monsters are beheading monsters
The people leading cartels are some of the worst terrorists on this planet, on level with genocidal dictators who live without a conscience.
In the video they let one of them live for some reason, which isn't mentioned in the article.
Yeah, definitely wtf. Not watching that video.

I'm not watching the video, but I assume it's quite hard to contact the cartels, so if you let one of them life they can tell the Zetas about it/show the video.
I hate it when I run into gory videos, makes me feel bad for em. Definitely not gonna be watching this thing.
I watched the video, it was gruesome, but not too bad. I'm not saying that because I'm trying to seem like a badass, but it's so grainy and low res, you can't see anything. There's little gruesome sound, either.
It's still really scary to think about.
Well,at least there's less cartel members now...
Cool, let em kill themselves.
Can't find the video
Gang members brutally killing other gang members? Better that than a regular civilian.
I'd rather they kill other gang members than innocent civilians. Still pretty horrible though.
Cool, let em kill themselves.
I don't think letting them kill eachother is the most effective way of dealing with this. if one cartel reaches a stronger position than the others, other cartels will spring from the most powerful one, and they in turn will reach that same position, so on and so forth.
I don't really know what the actual solution is, but I doubt leaving the cartels to their fighting is going to help the people of Mexico, or at least it won't in the short run.
I've always been wondering how life is in Mexico. Is the threat/violence of the cartels really that influential to the daily life of the average Mexican? And if so, to all parts of Mexico?
I had found a blog from a guy in Chihuahua that seemed to imply that, but then again Chihuahua is a border state, so increased cartel-related violence is to be expected.
Why do people want to watch the video anyway? What do you get out of it?

Morbid interest, I guess?
Don't forget that exploitation films featuring real (or supposedly real) violence, torture and death were somewhat popular in the 70s/80s. It's the same thing here.
Now if only we can get them to wipe eachother out
Did they put his head on a tortoise?

It really depends on the area. The border areas are the worst off, and possibly the big cities but the small towns that are far away like where my dad is from is relatively safe compared to them (unless he is lying).
I won't give a single bit of pity for these assholes. They'd probably be doing the exact same thing to other cartel members if ordered to, or worse, civilians.
Here's the video guys.
