(Reuters) - South Korean President Park Geun-hye said on Monday there would be strong and swift military response to any North Korean provocation without regard to political consequences, after Pyongyang said at the weekend it was entering a state of war with its rival.

No more, mister nice guy.

Was pretty pathetic when they hardly did anything when North Korean bombed one of their islands.
They'll most likely catch on fire and their electronic systems suddenly disable themselves when shit becomes real :v:
that was insane sarcasm, the f22 is fine as a fighter but its still 1. expensive 2.moderately unnecessary
and 3.
doesn't the airforce not want it anymore?
It's at the top of the fighter food chain, as far as I know. It might be expensive, but in a confrontation it ccould wipe out NK's fighters before they even knew it was engaging them. Worth every penny.
Don't mix this plane up with the F-35. This is the Raptor, not the Joint Strike Fighter.
I still prefer the F/A-18 Super Hornet... They should atleast fight in style.
oh no F22s
now the norks can dogfight with oxygen starved pilots in overpriced "stealth" "fighter" jets!!!
You forgot "jets".
(The pilots actually have to push them).
Noting how much advanced aircraft the three allied nations have (Japan, South Korea & USA), Most of North Korea's aircraft would be dominated very quickly. The allies have the use of the F-16, F-15A/C/E, F/A-18, F-2 (Japanese variant of the F-16), F-22, A-10. Then there's the bombers, such as: The B-2, B-1B and B-52.
Getting back on point though, if NK has set up a layered Air Defence network, the US probably might have to take some F-4G Wild Weasels to help with SEAD.
I'm just gonna say this.
If shit does hit the fan, we'll have air superiority in hours....if that long. I mean seriously, I wanna know who Kim is trying to fool. Between Japan, South Korea, AND USA hes completely fucked if he tries anything funny.

Helicopters would be right out though, they've got a ton of medium/close range AA weapons. That might cause problems for CAS, MEDEVAC and the like.
Incase people dont know what a F-22 looks like:

Though the F/A 18 was also fucking awesome.
I remember the F-22 from the old Megadrive game! Funny what videogames teach you.
SEAD
... doesn't work on MANPADS and IR missiles
Let's go oldschool and use the old spitfires!

Uh, the spitfire is completely british made.
Thought it was the one with the high tech helmet or whatever.
F35 Lightning
What one pilot said during Operation Red Flag about the F-22:
"The thing denies your ability to put a weapons system on it, even when I can see it through the canopy," said RAAF Squadron Leader Stephen Chappell, F-15 exchange pilot in the 65th AS. "It's the most frustrated I've ever been." ""We [even] tried to overload them with numbers and failed," said Colonel Bruce. "It's humbling to fly against the F-22."
12 F-22's at Red Flag, with most of the pilots having less than 100 hours in the F-22, scored 244 Kills, and lost 2, with one loss mistaking an already killed target re-entering the fight without realizing it, and 144 kills and 0 losses in Operation Northern Edge
These sorties are against the best of the best pilots in the best aircraft available to fly. So good luck, North Korea
Do we have an Sabres left? We could use those as bait for the nork MiGs!

Why were they discontinued, again?
Because they're fucking old. You can only upgrade it so much before it becomes obsolete, and the F-18's we have now are far better
F-14 still one of my favorite planes, was sad to see it go
The F-15 is just as old and would probably be next, but we still pump out new variants, so it's going to be around a while longer
