• Disney purchases Lucasfilm - Episode 7, 8 and 9 to be released and "so on every two to three years"

Funnily enough, back in the day I used to argue Disney is the only company that had a chance to purchase Star Wars (referring to everything Lucas) due to financial aspects and their global status. Time to collect that $10.
Goofy shot first
What should even 7 deal with? All the bad guys ever all dead. And good guys too, mostly.
i smell a lot of retconning of the EU
Disneys pretty good but I'm not sure about this really I hope that they don't shit on star wars like the newer movies, and go towards more classical approach. this will likely not happen.
What the fuck another episode
I had hoped that Lucas would actually release Star Wars into the public domain, once he was done with it. He's always been good about allowing fan films and such, plus he's a billionaire anyways and his kids are set for life. Disney will now use their power to influence the Congress to pass new copyright laws to protect their investment. I'm starting to think that some day soon a law will be passed saying copyrights never expire.
Kingdom Hearts with Yoda...
Wait. New Episodes. Is it going to follow the Thrawn Trilogy? Or will Lucas shit all over that too? Remember, Lucas doesn't recognize the expanded universe.
Iorn Man, Micky Mouse, and Darth Vader are now owned by the same company. God help us all.
If anyone is still sceptical https://twitter.com/BBCBreaking/status/263371225957543936
I hope they do. So Plinket can make more reviews of starwars

Jar Jar Binks will be the protagonist.
i smell a lot of retconning of the EU
is it really retconning when the EU officially doesn't really matter when it comes to the films
In all honesty this is good, Disney is saving George Lucas from himself and from ruining the franchise even more
The last Star Wars movie release was 2005's Revenge of the Sith – and we believe there's substantial pent up demand. In 2015, we're planning to release Star Wars Episode 7 – the first feature film under the "Disney-Lucasfilm" brand. That will be followed by Episodes 8 and 9 – and our long term plan is to release a new Star Wars feature film every two to three years
Disney RIP
Does this put star wars in the next Kingdom hearts?
I dunno about anyone else but I'm excited about this. Disney still makes some good films and I'd love to see a new Star Wars with Mark Hamill reprising his role as Luke. Maybe he could be training the new generations of Jedi.
I'm not disturbed by this, the cartoons butchered the genre. Hopefully Disney pushes for a new direction that isn't full of idiocy.

The fact that it's "episode 7" shouldn't be all that bad actually. The events after Return of the Jedi are already written out. As awful as it may seem, this could actually very well be a good thing. Disney does produce more mature films, though occasionally under different studio names.
is it really retconning when the EU officially doesn't really matter when it comes to the films
depends on what you consider cannon i guess either way i don't see them getting the original actors to reprise their roles nor do i see them following those characters. i guess it must be set pretty far into the future not to mention episodes 1 - 6 were anakin's story... i feel like this shouldn't be called episode 7
is it really retconning when the EU officially doesn't really matter when it comes to the films
When everyone but Lucas himself recognizes the EU, I'm pretty sure that a lot of people will be pissed if they touch anything that is already established. Which is a lot.
Well Lucas isn't a big part of the project so I have some hope? Its really his fault 1-3 were shit, he had more hands on with 1-3 then he did with 4-6
Star Wars Episode 7: Return of the Jedi Again
Haven't Disney's recent films been kind of medicore? I'm worried.
Why are people thinking this is bad? I mean Ep 7 is pushing it but no more Lucas destroying the films is great and to anyone who thinks that this decreases the chance of violent Star Wars games look at Marvel, Disney has had almost no effect them.
Lmao 150+ people viewing this thread Needless to say this is a massive head turner piece of news
Haven't Disney's recent films been kind of medicore? I'm worried.
since pixar has gone down hill i don't think they have made a good movie
Where's that pic of George Lucas with the quote about him feeling like shit after everyone tells him he's terrible at what he does? I want to bitch and moan about how he can't even keep basic continuity and point out how there had to be someone telling him what was stupid and to not do those things during the making of Episodes IV and V.
