WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT
guys. disney-owned marvel made the avengers i think more star wars will be ok
Yes but, the jokes man. THE JOKES!
Holy crap. Now I know how the Marvel fans felt. Aw well, merchadising and Expanded Universe material's pretty tame for me nowadays, nothing wrong with- ... ... ...Oh, sweet merciful crap... Okay, this is too much. We do not need any more Star Wars movies, the ones that exist tell exactly all we need to know about the series. It is pointless to see more made. F*** whoever thought this was a good idea. I am not going to see any of these new films. At least not until I hear anything good about it.
Yes, poor Marvel fans, look at all the shit they got after Disney bought Marvel! Like that Avengers movie Whedon directed, pff, that was shit, wasn't it? And all the new Marvel movies coming out, those will be shit too! And Avengers 2, with Whedon back in the director's chair? A pile of streaming shit! Truly, Disney has only done bad things with Marvel, like completely ruining the comics. Oh wait. That's right. They fucking didn't.
Depends on when the story takes place, Luke lives for a fairly long time. (Checked at it's between ~41 to 130 years after the events of Episode VI that he dies.) If they make the movies about the Yuuzhan Vong War it'll be about 20 years after Episode VI which would make sense.
that could be interesting, and they could use the original actors in that case too
Yes, they made one shitty movie and suddenly everything's gone downhill. Hey, have you even seen Brave? I think everyone needs to sit down and look at the bigger picture. Disney's been doing perfectly fine in the movie category: their recent animated movies have been pretty good (Wreck it Ralph, the most recent, is doing really great with the critics), and apart from the tween stuff, they're putting out good content. This also says that Lucas will only be a consultant, and that Kathleen Kennedy will be the executive producer. Let me remind you she was one of the executive producers behind amazing movies like Roger Rabbit, Back to the Future, ET, the first three Indiana Jones, etc. I actually have high hopes for this. With Lucas out of the director's and hopefully the writer's chair, maybe they'll bring in good people that can actually make a good movie.
or they'll bastardize it even more given how they make such shit like everything on the disney channel.
I DON'T KNOW HOW TO FEEL ABOUT THIS I WANT TO BE OVERLY EXCITED BUT THE OTHER HALF OF ME KEEPS REMINDING ME OF HOW HORRIBLY THIS COULD GO
my brain turned into liquid moosh SPIDER MAN AND DARTH VADER ARE NOW OWNED BY THE SAME COMPANY HELLO BRAIN? SORRY HE'S NOT THERE RIGHT NOW
or they'll bastardize it even more given how they make such shit like everything on the disney channel.
Except people behind Disney Channel are not the ones behind Disney Movies or LucasFilm.
since pixar has gone down hill i don't think they have made a good movie
Pixar ≠ Disney ≠ Marvel, Disney acts more as a distributor of content than anything. The Avengers was very well made, there's no reason to think they won't be able to do well with Starwars as well.
except it would have been 32 years after episode 6 (in real life). the actors are all way too old and didn't age well
CGI.
We'll get good movies, or very enjoyable Plinkett reviews. We'd win both ways.
It's not star wars anymore, lets call it something else.
I demand a Star Wars themed park in Disney World. That's the only good thing I see coming from this. Go to Disney world every other year with the family.
This will literally ruin my entire life!
I demand a Star Wars themed park in Disney World. That's the only good thing I see coming from this. Go to Disney world every other year with the family.
Expansion to Hollywood studios would be cool
CGI.
something disney has experience with considering Tron Legacy, where it was actually pretty neat
It's not star wars anymore, lets call it something else.
We have no reference to base that claim off of yet. Disney owns Marvel and they produced some great media under the Disney banner. I'm not happy about this either, but i'm not jumping to conclusions.
Expansion to Hollywood studios would be cool
Fuck yeah, can't wait to do the new Star Tours, the last time I was there it was the last day of the old star tours ride.
right and a lot of money to give lucas. lucas just cares about the money (guess he doesn't have enough or something) not star wars
Fortunately Lucas will have very little to do with the production of future movies. This acquisition is a good thing for fans, as Disney is unlikely to release any films they believe will be received poorly by fans. This is especially true with a high value IP like Star Wars. There's no better way to piss off share holders than to buy a company like Lucasarts and ruin it. [editline]30th October 2012[/editline]
Pixar=Disney
Pixar is a Disney held studio, it's important not to make generalizations and say that all Disney movies are like those produced by Pixar (or Disney held Marvel, or any other studio they own for that matter).
The only thing remotely good I can see about this is that Lucas won't necessarily be at the helm of the movies any longer and someone with talent could potentially put out something great. (THRAWN TRILOGY PLEASE) On the absolute downside however is now it's going to be milked worse than a dairy farm.
GUYS YOU ARE MISSING THE MOST IMPORTANT THING DISNEY NOW OWNS HOWARD THE DUCK
What does this mean for Lucas Arts? They won't be shit anymore?
About the EU: I would be very surprised if Disney even acknowledges that stuff exists. I bet they bought Star Wars, all the stuff created by Lucas, and as far as they are concerned that's all that exists. So from Episode 7 on I think we can expect to see the writers take the franchise anywhere they want, even if it conflicts with EU material.
NOOOOOOooOOoOoOoOoOoooOoOO.
Episode 7 could be a prequel. Pretty much all the games and things like that mostly go on before the original trilogy, sometimes several thousand years before.
Maybe we'll actually get Battlefront 3 now or KOTOR 3
The fact it's called Episode 7 implies it takes place AFTER episode 6, so I have high hopes for the movies. It's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be, with new original characters with a story that we know nothing about taking place in the New Republic, this shit could be off the hook. I trust in Disney.
What does this mean for Lucas Arts? They won't be shit anymore?
It's potentially a very good thing for the IP and for the fans. Disney won't let a studio they hold (especially one this valuable) ruin it's most valuable IP. I'm curious if they bought Lucasarts for Star Wars alone or for other IPs like Indiana Jones as well. (I. Jones is probably dead though after the last movie)

The fact they're using the name Episode 7 suggests against this, but it could be just that the movie is considered to only be in the planning stages at the moment.
