Lucas is a great creator of scenery and concepts like armour designs and such or iconic sets; he's just terrible with stories and dialogue. So creative consultant might be what he always should have been.
star wars ended in ep 6 you fuckers the books have ruined it enough already
old republic stuff pls
The Old Republic is all weird though with how half the shit looks exactly like original trilogy.
For the story to be canon as they've stated it won't be able to have new characters unless it takes place in the very far future. The fact they're using the name Episode 7 suggests against this, but it could be just that the movie is considered to only be in the planning stages at the moment.
I just really don't want them to drag Harrison Ford/Mark Hamil back. It'd completely kill Star Wars for me, even more so than the Prequels.
Hammill could probably get in shape and play Luke as a Jedi Master.

That's what everyone said about Harrison Ford and Indy.....

and he was still the best thing about that movie

I agree wholeheartedly with you, and I will point out that Pixar is "safer" as a studio than Lucasarts as it has many more held IPs. Aside from Star Wars, Lucasarts only has a few IPs worth mentioning - The Land Before Time (probably used up by now), and Indiana Jones (maybe used up after the last movie's bad ending). Disney wouldn't put 4 billion dollars on the line for a single IP unless they were to think they could make a lot of money from it. A lot of profit means a large investment in the movies, large investments mean greater precautions are to be taken. We should also bear in mind that with this acquisition also comes the employees of the company. They're probably looking to expand Lucasfilms, create some new IPs, and make a lot of money.
It strikes me as a risky investment in spite of it all. It could either pay off very well (people love Star Wars), or end up as a multi-billion dollar loss for the company.

Harrison Ford is great no matter what.
A movie based on KOTOR 1 & 2 would be pretty cool actually, Revan and shit.
If done right that is.
A Jedi master would not require the kind of action that Indiana Jones does, so I don't think that comparison(Harrison Ford/Mark Hamill) is valid.
The big issue there, in my opinion, is that I'm sure Disney wants a fresh start. They own the old Star Wars stuff, sure, but more importantly(in their minds) they own the FUTURE of Star Wars. They aren't going to spend a lot of time looking back. They certainly won't want to give the impression that the only way they can do a good Star Wars movie is by bringing back any of the old cast.
I'm personally boycotting the Disney version of star wars.
EDIT: until I get over it.

They've stated the movie to be canon, which means they have to either skip ahead a fairly long time in the series or include the old cast. (Or replace the old cast with lookalikes and piss off fans.)
Kyle Katarn bitches.

Movies based off of video games are seldom (if ever) done right unfortunately. I'd still love to see them produce more KOTOR or KOTOR-style games now though.
I'm curious to see what Disney will do with Star Wars
Not really the biggest fan of the prequel trilogy, hopefully they'll get some good people on board who can do the franchise and it's expanded universe justice
Well, it won't be hard to get a good team for the movie, everyone'll be throwing themselves at Disney for the chance.
for some reason when I read "Disney purchases Lu" i subconsciously filled in the rest of the title as "Disney purchases Luxembourg"

There is no Disney version of Star Wars. It's still Lucasfilm. Did you boycott Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America and the Avengers because it was Marvel media produced after Disney bought them?
Guys,
What if Episode VII essentially a movie form of Star Wars: Jedi Academy? They could have Mark Hamil and the original cast back as the old Jedis training the batch of new Jedis when the Sith attack?
Most likely knowing Disney, they'll replace the casts with Zach and Cody being Luke Skywalker and his lost brother or some dumb shit.
If it follows the original characters it'll be absolute shit. If it goes for Old Republic or Clone Wars with brand new characters it'll have a chance to be good
Star Wars Episode 7? Damn, that shit is gonna get fucked up...

Pixar is a Disney held studio, it's important not to make generalizations and say that all Disney movies are like those produced by Pixar (or Disney held Marvel, or any other studio they own for that matter).
Pixar and Disney are more close knit than you seem to think.

This is absurd, you haven't put any thought into this. For one, Disney isn't breaking up Lucasfilms. They'll (within reason) still be in charge of the production of future films. Secondly, Disney wants to make money. They're dropping $4,050,000,000 into this investment. That's a lot of movies they'll need to make to break even, even disregarding all the money that comes with holding the company (book, game, and movie sales).

Animated Pixar Star Wars?
hmm that may work if executed good enough
I hope this means a Day of the Tentacle animated film is on the way
...pretty please?
I am interested in seeing what Ep 7 could be about, there are tons of cool EU elements that occurred after Ep 6
KotOR universe would be cool, during the Jedi Civil War. Although it shouldn't star Revan as the main character.

Hardly to any extent greater than is found between Disney and Marvel. It's a little more hands on, but this analogy should suffice. Saying that all of Disney's movies are like those produced by Pixar is like saying that all of Bethesda's games are like those produced by the studio that developed New Vegas (Obsidian).
