So with episode 7 on the way, that means the entire EU is non canon now, right? Fuck. Everything.
Mother of god
It's fucking impossible to say that. This is however, an absolute worst case scenario, mind you.
I've never found the idea of "canon" to be cool. When it comes to franchises I just like what parts I like and let the rest be whatever. Or at least that's been my attitude ever since the prequels came out.

Everything after 6, however, has continued the story, pretty much immediately after movie, making it hard to incorporate because there are events and characters which must be taken into account. But like I said, this is all absolute worst case scenario. Feel free to ignore this as the crazed ramblings of a nerd who is passed his prime.

Another option is to skip to the legacy series, since a lot of exciting EU stuff happens then while being 100 years since Yavin. Plus I must confess I love darth talon as a villain.
EU will most likely not exist seeing Lucas tends to ignore that. Like the Republic Commando books and the clonewars show. Mandalorians use to be actual mandalorian warrior culture but Lucas thought they be better off as pansies and made the change, thus making such a great book serious quite useless. Though after Endor they did answer a distress beacon in another system and met the first of the vong but that would most likely not happen. If they do pick a time and place for this I wouldn't mind it being in the legacy era featuring Cade.
DAMNIT DISNEY!
I just hope it doesnt feature Starkiller
I'm going to remain cautiously optimistic. If they do the StarWars movies like the first 'Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe', then I'm okay with this. It's not like it can get any worse... *Knock on wood.*
Suppose they'll have to revise the Disney princesses line now... because nobody's made that joke in light of all this.
oh god damn it I read through the entire thread to make sure I can use this, I get to the last page and someone beats me i hate you so much right now
PLEASE, make one about the Yuuzhan Vong Invasion, the old Jedi and Sith Lords, the Old Republic, whatever, just don't set in near the other two trilogies, their story is essentially done, no need to clog it up more. I'd kill for an Exar Kun movie, or Nomi Sunrider. Just no Kyle Katarn, I'm sick of him from all the games he's in.

I like my forceusers being rare and not breeding like guppies.
I walked in drunk last night, read this news and just put it down to me being drunk and not reading properly. Wake up this morning and see this.
I'm hoping Disney will move away from its "children" only image because I will piss myself if star wars is raped by a g rated piece of garbage
They own LucasArts now. If they don't move away from that there is no chance of a new Republic Commando, Battlefront 3, Jedi Knight etc or maybe even something like a new force unleashed. Apparently Star Wars: 1313 isn't affected but it wouldn't surprise me if it was in some way eventually. Looks like Star Wars might now be completely dead. I hope not.
They bought Marvel and we got the Avengers. They bought Lucasfilm and what the hell are you guys all so upset about. This has a chance of bringing back Star Wars. They already tried out the space opera genre with the ill-fated John Carter. I thought that movie was ok, though. Anyway, this has potential.
There were actually nine Star Wars books written before Lucas even started making them into movies. I personally haven't read them, but a friend who did so years ago has told me that all the books were basically written as movie scripts, and it was very apparent that they were intended to be made into movies. Also, books 7 to 9 apparently are pretty badass. I remember my friend telling me something about animals that are immune/unaffected by the force, and there's a whole race of aliens that uses these animals as pets, merely to be dicks to the Jedi's.
They say the story is going to be original.
I don't trust Disney. They raped Club Penguin, and if they dare destroy this franchise...

Well, the title Star Wars means there are war in the stars in space. If there is no war, why is it called STAR WARS? There better be a huge fight and conflict. Also, Star Wars have enter the SEQUEL-ISTIS fate. I like it better if there were only 6 episodes. Now they are saying they are planning to churn out new movie once every two years. I hope they got a good scriptwriter and director.
Personally I'm looking forward to more movies in the Star Wars universe.
Does this mean that Walt Disney's head will be moved to a carbonite-freezing chamber? Also. . .in the Star Wars "Disney-verse," "The Phantom Menace" is Jews.
Kingdom Hearts 3 FEATURING: Jedi Sith Avengers + more!
George Lucas is only going to be a 'Creative Consultant' on Ep7 according to Wikipedia. So he won't have too much influence.
I would love Disney to be the people who will listen to him, but not include the stupid things
Considering that they do porn, they aren't a kiddy company anymore.
Starring Zac Efron as the Sith lord.
Disney announces new princess...wait...
I would love Disney to be the people who will listen to him, but not include the stupid things
so he won't have that much influence then pretty much every idea lucas ever has is Bad until someone makes it Good
