9/11 First Responders Not Invited To 10th Anniversary Ceremony At Ground Zero

As a member of a fire station, I find this decision not only heartbreaking, but extremely offensive.
If members of my fire station or neighboring station's died, and the county threw a memorial service but did not invite any of us who responded, or who lost friends, then my god, I would be so infuriated I wouldn't know what I would do.
Not invited =/= prohibited from attending.
That said, it seems like a no-brainer to invite the survivors that were most affected.
Dat logistical nightmare.

Guess it will be a normal day then.
If I were a lawmaker invited to that event I would have given my spot to a responder.
Thye managed to get 100000 people into downtown Vancouver when the 'nucks were in the finals. I'm sure 91000 would be easier and have less rioting.

That and with the spirit of the day I doubt people would be inclined to throw elbows.
total bullshit
If I was a first responder I'd come anyways. Fuck 'em
What a load of horseshit, they went through hell, and did the best they could, yet they are told to go to a second ceremony where it will see much less attention than the first. Those city officials that decided this are a bunch of asswipes.
This is getting a bit overexaggerated (or however you spell it), they're just not special guests or anything, if they show up they're treated the same as everybody else. Still kinda wrong but I guess they didn't want them to feel like they had to come (in interviews most say they don't like to think about it).
It's a bit ironic how the first responders weren't invited to the WTC 10 years ago either.
I feel bad for the guy who got a check for $0.00 in the mail for his service on 9/11. Now he won't be able to go to the spot where he got cancer to save people's lives.
America sure like fucking over it's own, this isn't the first time i've read some like this.
seems like what happened 10 years ago is still terrorizing the country..
they should fly a plane into ground zero, that will show them
thats pretty fucked up especially when they risked their lives
It was crazy when the buildings came down..
I bet during that most of the dead died.
Emergency (First response, Rescue etc.) crews are one of people i admire most
not just for courage and bravery but also the 'nerves' to go on ... and save lives
godspeed
You can't be serious. That is a complete load of shit. Those people risked there lives that day, September 11, 2001, to try and save those thousands of men and women who were killed when the towers collapsed, and they're not invited! They should be the guests of fucking honor! If it weren't for them, it could have been much worse!
Also, it's so hard to believe that it's been 10 years. Seems like just yesterday. Such a tragedy. I'm Canadian and I always remember 9/11, and honor those who died either while working in the building or trying to rescue the people inside.
if they aren't invited then what exactly is the point of the whole event?
seems like a whole lot of fuss just to cry about how much you love your country and how important september 11th was
