ITT: People don't understand the difference between Mb and MB.
0.2mbits/s here
That sucks. I thought my island connection of around 2Mbits/s was bad. I can usually download at around 233kB/s. Which is fairly slow. But I did once download a game at almost 500kBytes/s!
there's two types of megabyte?
The Germans always make good stuff.
there's two types of megabyte?
MB=Megabyte Mb=Megabit = 1/8 Megabyte
MB=Megabyte Mb=Megabit = 1/8 Megabyte
hehehh..... you're shitting me Why don't companies just TELL me, that I'll have a "certain" download speed. That confuses millions of people.
Advertising. "We have 100Mb down!" While actually you get 12MB, which is max, and usually you never reach that anyway...
hehehh..... you're shitting me Why don't companies just TELL me, that I'll have a "certain" download speed. That confuses millions of people.
Because megabits is more. Higher number = people want it more.
And I thought my 120Mbit/s are fast. Usually they advertise with 16.000kbit/s, 32.000kbit/s etc.
hehehh..... you're shitting me Why don't companies just TELL me, that I'll have a "certain" download speed. That confuses millions of people.
Advertising. They put a 'm' and a 'b' and people think Megabyte, but it's not false advertising because they technically told the people Mb which meant Megabit.
There is no reason for the concept of "megabit" to exist.
There is no reason for the concept of "megabit" to exist.
Bits and Bytes are different things.
There is no reason for the concept of "megabit" to exist.
Uh yes there is, entire computing world hangs on bits.
Bits and Bytes are different things.
In terms of selling internet then. In the UK, pretty much everyone has a broadband connection. Yet those on 2Mb are only receiving 100kbps download speed. Makes me sick to deceive poor people. :(

I guess that's what you get by living on an island.
There is no reason for the concept of "megabit" to exist.
You have no idea how digital signals work if you think that.
I live on a remote Scottish island. There are no fibre-optics and 3G doesn't exist here. Internet sucks.
I heard Romanians and Bulgarians are master race when it comes to internet speed (on average)...
