Need For Speed developers: "The move to DX11 from DX9 has given us around a 300% improvement in rend

Ditch Origin (or MASSIVELY improve it), and go OpenGL instead of DirectX.
Origin runs like shit when I play Battlefield 3, so I get random FPS drops since origin decides to jump to 70% cpu usage randomly.
I've noticed this as well when I'm playing.
Didn't know it was Origin causing it though.
I've never tried Origin, but it sure sounds like shit

It's functional, but it doesn't offer anything that would warrant a switchover if all your games and friends are on Steam. Especially not its game library. The only thing I really like about it is that the UI doesn't freeze up for short periods of time randomly when doing stuff like Steam does.
Wait isn't there already a NfS Most Wanted ??

Yeah, made in 2005. I dunno why they're reusing the name.

To get Nostalgia sales.

That, and the previous Most Wanted and both Hot Pursuits were Need for Speeds. Criterion's HP and MW are Burnouts.
Also here goes another game down the drain, thanks to Origin.
BTW, did anyone noticed that it's still called beta?
Won't make it a good game though.
Sure as fuck won't match the previous Most Wanted

Pretty hard to say before you've even seen the finished product is it not?

Couldn't this be easily fixed by setting the affinity and/or priority?
[editline]28th September 2012[/editline]
I'm probably wrong, though.
they might have DX11 but there games are still rehashed shit.
I hope they stick to the old gameplay and not go all burnout-lite like they did with HP..
I have used it, and it wasn't a very nice experience. I don't know if it's been fixed, but I my computer used to completely freeze for a bit when I started it, and it just doesn't have as much to offer as Steam does. I don't want to have to use it when it could just not exist and the games could be on Steam.
I had the same problem. The fix for the freezing on start is to run it in compatibility mode for XP SP3, but be sure to turn off compatibility mode again when an update comes out for it or your game, or it will just start to crash.

If you really think Origin can "ruin" a game you need to grow the fuck up. It's a piece of software that doesn't interfere with the game once you launch it, surprisingly the same thing Steam does! (except Steam tends to hang a ton more when starting downloads and such). Though EA really do need to get their Origin team to either remember to remove the "beta" tag from the name, or actually get it out of beta, it's been like that for a while now...
no way, a company is doing a proper PC port, AND the publisher is EA
next thing you know pigs are going to fly, in space, and they will all fly through the sun and rain upon us delicious bacon

*doesn't interfere with the game*
Uh-huh, then there must be another explanation why ME3 closes when Origin looses Internet connection.
Also, nice trying to make yourself look older by saying "grow the fuck up".
DirectX is fucking rubbish.
No, not because of speed issues.
No, not because of development issues.
But because it's locked to fucking windows.
That's why it's surprising me why developers wont switch to OpenGL. It got more potential in my opinion.
especially since devs are doing DX9 only, how have the OpenGL advocates not realized this is the perfect times to promote OpenGL since DX10 and 11 are largely being rejected or ignored by developers?

Who says you have to make a "switchover" to Origin? Why can't you, y'know, use two different programs at once? I've got few issues at all with Origin. It does what it's meant to, sell and present games. If it were meant to be as community-centralised as Steam then it would have proper community functionality. The profile system is simple stuff, name and avatar, all you'd ever pay attention to another player in an online game. It's all about games, no fuss with community.
