One of the reasons I like Valve is because it's a private owned company so it doesn't have this shareholder shit like Bobby Kotick. Valve wants to deliver a quality service and good games while Activision-Blizzard is more pushed around to squeeze every penny out of our pockets so the shareholders are pleased.
Thing is: Kotick gives a lot of us the impression of being a greedy, money-hungry cunt, mostly because of the marketing methods used by Activision. The guys at Valve understand there is no merit in trying to sell slices of a game and therefore, make sure their games are complete and extra content is delivered free. But it'd be ignorant to deny that deep inside both Newell and Kotick's hearts, making as large a profit as possible is one of the top priorities of their companies. It's simple economics, really. I still hate him, though. With his creepy smirk.

And there is being a greedy fuck that nobody wants to buy from except for the xbox 12 year olds.
There's being Valve which people will love and support. And there is being a greedy fuck that nobody wants to buy from except for the xbox 12 year olds.
Agreed. But you can expand to Playstation 3 kiddies as well.
Read what I wrote lol
read what i wrote lol a businessman that makes money is a successful businessman
you guys take this shit way too seriously
most people who buy cod are in the 21-35 age group btw
read what i wrote lol a businessman that makes money is a successful businessman
Alright let me rephrase since you are not getting it. And how is this businessmaning going for him? He got rich as fuck but now everyone hates him and his company. He has only 1 fanbase left. 12 year olds playing mature games, on xbox. I wouldn't say that "it's going great lol" when you dishearten more and more people from buying your product. Like I said in another post, many people go "fuck activision" now. The only group of customers that will buy his games for sure are the console kids. Underage kids playing M rated games. [editline]31st March 2011[/editline] source
Twelves year olds can't even purchase the game in pretty much 99% of the countries because it's a MATURE game. So regardless, contrary to what you believe the COD fan base is larger then FP and therefore their opinion weighs more then yours. He makes tons of money, a lot of people love him for making games, get over it lol.
Twelves year olds can't even purchase the game in pretty much 99% of the countries because it's a MATURE game.
hahahahahahaha yeah and drugs are illegal too, means nobody can buy them also moms always check the ratings on games before buying them for their kids also it is impossible for an underage kid to posses alcohol or cigs
a lot of people love him for making games,
hahahahahaha
lol.
lol

It's pretty much known fact that they do, it doesn't mean I do though. You also missed my entire point of a "TWELEVE YEAR OLDS PALYING IT!" Every age group plays a game and regardless you could argue older people are even worse since they're more of trolls. lol

Blizzard if I'm correct is sellings pets and things like that. On it's way to hat Fortress
Are you high or just dense? Why would they love him, it's not like he gives out games for free, he releases them. Why would anyone love him for that? They might think he's a cool guy at best. As for the "a lot" part - lol.
You also missed my entire point of a "TWELEVE YEAR OLDS PALYING IT!" "TWELEVE YEAR OLDS PALYING IT!" what? You mean the part when you implied that underage kids cannot posses mature games? Yeah, I didn't miss that because it was incredibly dumb. And what the fuck this means or how is it relevant "Every age group plays a game and regardless you could argue older people are even worse since they're more of trolls" I have no fucking idea.
Blizzard CEO: If I said Kotick was a bad guy I'd be executed.
Jesus christ I just got that image out of my head, there goes my sleep for the next two weeks you pricks :(

They like the game, they pay 60$ for it, then enjoy it and then continue to break records every year. If you still think everyone hates him even though he broke world records in terms of video games you must be the dense one lol.
I just wonder if he really knows what is going on and if he really knows what people think of him and if he really is such a bad person in real.

In fact he's quite adamant in destroying interesting ideas. If he can't create new and interesting content, people will give up CoD just like they gave up every major first person shooter franchise before it. His business is short sighted and stupid, assuming that if he's doing well at the moment his company will prosper for all of time is just retarded. Look at Wall Street if you want an example of short term gains not equaling business prowess. [editline]31st March 2011[/editline] You see, money is not some end all be all symbol of success. Staying power is. If he can keep this shit up for more than five years, that will mean something.
[img_thumb]http://refurmods.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/bobby_kotick_activision.jpg[/img_thumb] "Good, my goons are now doing their job"
Why the fuck is he smiling like that in every picture ? It's creepy.
You still don't realize it, people aren't as smart
WELL DUUUURRRRR if they were smart they wouldn't cope with this shit.
and realize how video games work, most don't even realize how CoD is even made.
How is that relevant?
They like the game, they pay 60$ for it, then enjoy it and then continue to break records every year.
Lets see for how long. Wow...

People (12 year old, as you would prefer) want lots of CoD, Kotick has lots of CoD. Babies happy, Kotick has money.
Economy: supply and demand. People (12 year old, as you would prefer) want lots of CoD, Kotick has lots of CoD. Babies happy, Kotick has money.
So? What's your point? It's pretty much what I said earlier rephrased. My point is: there are 2 types of games. Ones that were made thinking "this is going to be fun to play" and that would also be the main reason people buy it. And people appreciate this, support the company. And there is "so here's the budged, we have to have at least x% gain, we're just gonna spend half the money on development and the other half on advertisement". One of these strategies has a future, the other has not.
Came in just to click disagree
Aside from Indie developers, a public company's main interest is to increase all of their sales over their previous ones and to have a positive Mkt. CAP on the stocks. And marketing is completely the responsibility of the publisher. I see people here make the comparison with Valve, which is an invalid comparison. Activision is a stock market listed (ATVI) publicly owned company while Valve is privately owned (as some have said). Besides, I do agree with you on some points but as an economist, I try to view it objectively. Activision will be one of the biggest out there as long as they stay trusty to their cheap gaming formula in e.g. Call of Duty.
