The voters believe that. Republican politicians only use it to justify their opposition to single mothers.
okay so what is the politicians' reason to oppose it
The voters believe that. Republican politicians only use it to justify their opposition to single mothers.
same difference really
Remember the bill in Saudi Arabia that would have made women cover their eyes in public, which was introduced after a lawmaker got in a fight with a man because he nearly raped the man's wife? This is that level stupid and horrible.
When people are getting sprung just looking at another person's eyes... Goddamn, do they need to look at some porn. Or see a shrink. But I guess both of those are banned in Saudi Arabia so yeah. :v:
Right Wing up in this bitch. What an idiot.
Fuck this bill, I'm a single parent and me and my child are both perfectly healthy.
Where did the bill say it was illegal to be a single parent?

In promoting those campaigns and materials, the board shall emphasize nonmarital parenthood as a contributing factor to child abuse and neglect.
so basically, Grothman's stance can be summed up as "If your husband leaves you and you try your hardest to take care of your children, you should be arrested for child abuse." it's not really a whole lot better

First of all what does "contributing factor" mean? It may mean that single parents are statistically more llikely to abuse chilldren, which may or may not be true (I've done no research on it)
See when politicians say shit like this they should be instantly dislodged from any kind of power. I know it goes against free speech but this is straight up lunatic speech.

It may mean that single parents are statistically more llikely to abuse chilldren, which may or may not be true (I've done no research on it)
yes, what the fuck does "contributing factor" mean? I don't think it's a well-defined legal term in the context it's used in according to my sources, single parents are indeed statistically more likely to abuse children, but being a single parent isn't the cause of child abuse - rather, single parents are more likely to be poor and without proper support networks, so they experience increased financial stress and are less likely to know who to turn to when bad situations get worse. From poverty.org.uk :
Single parent households are substantially more likely to have incomes below the poverty line. Lower income, the increased stress associated with the sole burden of family responsibilities, and fewer supports are thought to contribute to the risk of single parents maltreating their children.
There are loads of other risk factors too, including marital conflict and domestic violence, but by far the largest is poverty. From childwelfare.gov :
Poverty and unemployment show strong associations with child maltreatment, particularly neglect.73 The NIS-3 study, for example, found that children from families with annual incomes below $15,000 in 1993 were more than 22 times more likely to be harmed by child abuse and neglect as compared to children from families with annual incomes above $30,000.
In short, this is useless, terrible legislation tantamount to classifying "being black" as a risk factor for crime [editline]3rd March 2012[/editline] I was raised by my mum from the age of 9, but I never got abused. Statistically, this is probably due to the fact that we are financially well-off. (In reality, it's because she's the greatest mother anyone could hope to have.)
Grothman's previous attack on the left wing contended that because social programs are available to the poor, liberals want people to be poor and use them
Yeah, makes......total sense.
What kind of a retard comes up with this shit?
Yeah, makes......total sense.
"well if you don't hate the poor you WANT people to be poor you commie socialist piece of shit"
okay so what is the politicians' reason to oppose it
Things like casual, nonmarital sex for starters.
So first they banned abortion, now they make up something like this. This is an incredible paradox I just don't even know what to say.
What kind of a retard comes up with this shit?
Grothman's a real gem. He wonders why politicians have a bad reputation in this state, considering he was once surrounded and locked out of his office by protestors, and then proceeds to advocate shit like this, defunding kindergarten programs, support Walker when he shat on the state's teachers, support mining clusterfucks, etc. But, I mean, he represents the part of our state that has a neo-nazi movement. So I guess he's actually doing his job and representing his constituency correctly, it's just that his little area is a cesspit.
It's not single parents, it's anyone who is not married and has children. You can be heterosexual, white and so on, with a loving girlfriend/boyfriend/fiancée/partner but if you're not married then it would be classified as abuse.
Yeah, makes......total sense.
That's actually what the majority of conservatives think. Like my parents.... :suicide:
I believe this is called treating the symptoms. There are to many single parents. Make all single parents go to jail. No more single parents. Good job America!
