your opinions do hurt people
If you're fucking quarreling over my beliefs that I share non-aggressively on the internet then that's your bad. You shouldn't be so easily offended over someone disagreeing with your god damn life, they have every right to disagree and judge you for whatever you do. You aren't exempt from human's social nature of judgement of other's traits.
But we're questioning why you are so aggressive to people who harbor barely negative opinions on you, we don't hate you, we don't harm you, we do nothing but silently disagree, and you for some reason feel the need to scream and discredit us when we share our very personal beliefs instead of coming to a middle ground and accepting that not everyone has to agree with your life.
i think you should take a class on human communications, because social skills interweave a lot in issues like this and you're being overly pedantic.

except what you're saying does hurt a lot of people in ways you probably don't realize.
there is nothing set in stone that says i need to respect someones opinion on a public forum. if someone says something stupid, there is nothing restricting me on questioning them for it.
Nobody has to respect you either though. Give respect get respect, don't give respect and you probably won't be getting any back.
Debating is better when respect is being traded as well as arguments.
You were saying?
Just because I realize it doesn't mean it's an insult. Facts are facts.
All it is is a mental illness that people want to have accepted because it deals with sexuality and gender.
Oh my god shut up.
"Neuroscience studies of transsexuals in recent years are increasingly suggesting that transsexualism is a biological phenomenon rather than a purely psychological one, as transsexuals' brain structures tend to have a strong resemblance to the brains of their identified gender, even before beginning sex reassignment therapy."
i think you should take a class on human communications, because social skills interweave a lot in issues like this and you're being overly pedantic.
I should actually I'll attempt to do that, sounds interesting and education.
no, you're a bigot because you really, really want to hold on to the idea that people fit into the categories of "trans" and "normal," even when it makes no sense in the context of gender politics
I didn't use the word normal. I used the word most (in context, majority), which is a statistical fact. Until you can show me that there are more people who are transgender than there are that are not, I'm well within my rights to use the word most.
That isn't being bigoted, that's using appropriate language to describe the numbers.

Why are you getting so pissed on an internet forum anyway?
Just because I realize it doesn't mean it's an insult. Facts are facts.
A fact it may be but what the fuck do you gain from being such a condescending piece of shit about it?
Perhaps phenotypes should be used for social settings, but genotypes can be scientific, what uses the scientific community may have for that separation I'll never know.
Sure, maybe society isn't defying science and objectivity, it should just interpret factual evidence in different ways.
"Perhaps" just doesn't cut it in science though. You can talk about genotypic sex if you want but you cannot equate genotypic sex with biological sex, which is what you were talking about a few pages ago.
Brain structures are a representation of psychological phenomenons. Schizophrenic people have different brain structures as well, and that's a mental illness.

thanks for the ambient drone. i clearly couldn't figure this out myself
(stop)
Again, an opinion is not free from criticism and further is not immune to being wrong. Just going "Well its my opinion!" doesn't mean it can't be wrong. "Its my opinion that the world is 7000 years old!" "Yeah? Its fucking wrong. You don't get to have differing opinions about things that are based in reality." What matters isn't the fucking biology when you're doing anything in a social situation. All that matters is the sociology. It doesn't matter what the body is, the brain is the only important thing. So shove your "opinion" straight up your ass.
All it is is a mental illness that people want to have accepted because it deals with sexuality and gender.
Wow.
You are such a hypocrite it's not even believable anymore
you're practically using sticks and stones logic, but words actually do hurt. regardless of what you think.
Brain structures are a representation of psychological phenomenons. Schizophrenic people have different brain structures as well, and that's a mental illness.
Illness suggests that people can get better from or suppress it.
Women have vaginas

Sorry you can't accept the reality of the situation. It isn't really bad, but you know, it's a thing.

you have no reason other than your own bigotry to criticize people for using "cisgender" but not "transgender." you take the use of the word "cisgender" as an insult because you're a bigot
Sorry you can't accept the reality of the situation. It isn't really bad, but you know, it's a thing.
ok what does this even mean
Brain structures are a representation of psychological phenomenons. Schizophrenic people have different brain structures as well, and that's a mental illness.
I think it's safe to say you have no brain structure
that alone is not enough to judge whether or not something is an illness
Illness suggests that people can get better from or suppress it.
And how do you know you can't suppress transgenderness? I don't think anyone has ever made a medicine that attempted to deal with the illness, because as I said, everyone wants to have it socially accepted. Again, it is likely no different than any other mental illness, that's all these radical deviations from normal human behavior are, it isn't even a necessarily bad thing, and I'd say that transgenderness isn't one of those bad mental illnesses (schizophrenia, for example, is).
Sorry you can't accept the reality of the situation. It isn't really bad, but you know, it's a thing.
almost everyone posting here disagrees with you right now
i'm not sure what the 'reality' is supposed to be
Check your privilege
ok what does this even mean
I'm sorry that you are unable to come to terms with the reality of the situation?

Oh no a group of people with personal investment in this cause are disagreeing with me, you definitely represent the majority!
And how do you know you can't suppress transgenderness? I don't think anyone has ever made a medicine that attempted to deal with the illness, because as I said, everyone wants to have it socially accepted.
I remember that many people tried to find a cure for homosexuality.
That went swimmingly and harmed no one ever.
you have no reason other than your own bigotry to criticize people for using "cisgender" but not "transgender." you take the use of the word "cisgender" as an insult because you're a bigot
I simply think it's unnecessary. If I wanted to insult transgenders, I would.
Infact, I think you're an insecure moron looking for self gratification attacking people for showing their opinions on a forum. How about you get your life together instead of wasting your time here?
There, I just insulted a transgender. Not because you're transgender, because you're an idiot.
Much [img]http://www.facepunch.com/fp/ratings/heart.png[/img] to the rest of you guys though, I don't think Dori is representative.
[editline].[/editline]
I'll take my ban for flaming now.
you can't see the difference because you aren't transgender
there's millions of blogs and articles that'll give you the perspective you need on what it's like, but at the end of the day, most people don't have the sympathy to really know until they are one
if the only way to qualify as empathetic enough to understand a transgender person is to be a transgender person than i don't really understand the point of trying to reach out and make it more accepted
I'm sorry that you are unable to come to terms with the reality of the situation?

you aren't qualified to say what 'reality' is. stop thinking that u are
I have to admit this thread got a lot more interesting than i expected. It's quite an interesting situation and i learned quite a bit from the whole "discussion" if we can call it that.

Whether we represent the majority or not doesn't mean you're any less wrong lol
I don't know what you mean by the "reality of the situation" man
