what the fuck does that have to do with anything? no ones saying that transgender people are the only people getting attacked, and just because others are doesnt diminish the issue.
I'm saying it's an argument that isn't worth bringing up if he's trying to play the victim card.
i thought we told you to stop doing this flapadar
Oh sorry i meant black people, white people, asian people.
yo you trying to equate me to a chimpanzee
Oh what, are you too good to be compared to your evolutionary last common ancestor?
I do feel that alot of these issues would be solved by gender neutral terms. Japanese apparently has one. can we nick it from them?
If you're okay with sounding like a massive weeb then jibun wooo ochinchin ga daisuki da yo to you too.
But the thing is he doesn't have to accept that his word is wrong, because it isn't. Just because there's people who mess with the definition of the word doesn't really change the word's correctness.
Try to keep up with me here, will you? 1- You say in a social sharing website that all women have vaginas (because overwhelming majority of women have vaginas) 2- People who identify themselves as women even though they don't have vaginas or people who do not identify themselves as women even though they have vaginas get offended and tell you that they are offended. 3- You keep defending your point of view that women have to have vaginas, even though you are facing actual, real life people who have vaginas and do not identify themselves as women or people who identify themselves as women but do not have vaginas. Can you see where he has gone wrong there? He is actually facing people who do not fit the criteria he has set and feel offended by that. The "definition" or whatever you want to call it, does not matter here, the presence of the people I just mentioned automatically invalidates his claim that women have vaginas.
I do feel that alot of these issues would be solved by gender neutral terms. Japanese apparently has one. can we nick it from them?
"they" "theirs" but of course most of the time you can just ask what someone's gender is and use that?
ignorance from a subject doesn't make you instantly innocent. educate yourself. its not that difficult.
Not every transgender person wears clothes according to their gender or has gone under an operation to bring their sex in alignment with gender so some people really don't know
I do feel that alot of these issues would be solved by gender neutral terms. Japanese apparently has one. can we nick it from them?
so do we, it's "they," "them," and "theirs"
ignorance from a subject doesn't make you instantly innocent. educate yourself. its not that difficult.
The "not my job to educate you" attitude is not the best one to have. In general, since transgendered people are such a small minority, most people simply aren't aware of the correct words to use, usually having the outdated sex = gender definition. If you correct them politely, they'll learn, and probably spread it on to their friends.
I do feel that alot of these issues would be solved by gender neutral terms. Japanese apparently has one. can we nick it from them?
"they, them, theirs"
All i gotta say is if youre pushing this non binary equality, and you often say things like "This is why I hate [type of human being]", You really need to reassess yourself and your cause.
I do feel that alot of these issues would be solved by gender neutral terms. Japanese apparently has one. can we nick it from them?
this is why I refer to everyone I meet as my nigga
The "not my job to educate you" attitude is not the best one to have. In general, since transgendered people are such a small minority, most people simply aren't aware of the correct words to use, usually having the outdated sex = gender definition.
i don't personally have that attitude. i'm happy to educate anyone if it means they'll actually stop being a bigoted dick.
Not every transgender person wears clothes according to their gender or has gone under an operation to bring their sex in alignment with gender so some people really don't know
but in that situation, if they're that pre-transition then they probably wouldnt tell people they're trans or have anyone calling them by their preferred pronouns yet.
ignorance from a subject doesn't make you instantly innocent. educate yourself. its not that difficult.
Yes, because I'm supposed to be able to telepathically know the gender identity of every single person I meet, and if I don't I'm the worst person on the planet. I don't say this much, but get over yourself, not every mistake is an attack.
It's Latin. Means "same as", opposite of "trans."
transmision cismission hurr...
"they, them, theirs"
Those refer to multiple people though.
"they, them, theirs"
they/them always seemed like you were referring to a group of people so it didn't seem a suitable stand in for "him / her".
"they, them, theirs"
Those all refer to collectives. Bro is the best universal term I can think of for individuals.
I'm saying it's an argument that isn't worth bringing up if he's trying to play the victim card.
i know what you're saying, and you're being an idiot. just because two groups of people are oppressed doesnt mean that neither of them can play the victim card.
Fucking hell, this thread started 2 hours ago and already has 14 pages.
Yes, because I'm supposed to be able to telepathically know the gender identity of every single person I meet, and if I don't I'm the worst person on the planet.
hanlon's law. no normal person is going to throw a fit if you misgender them. it only becomes a problem when you passive-aggressively misgender them after you're corrected
this is why I refer to everyone I meet as my nigga
I swear, soon it'll be worse to accidentally refer someone to the wrong gender instead of being racist.
Yes, because I'm supposed to be able to telepathically know the gender identity of every single person I meet, and if I don't I'm the worst person on the planet. I don't say this much, but get over yourself, not every mistake is an attack.
how did i say every mistake was an attack? if you know that someone is a transperson and you intentionally call them by their sex/previous gender then you are either a. doing it to hurt them or b. doing it out ignorance of the subject get over yourself and stop trying to attack me for saying the least people could do is educate THEMSELVES about the types of people they will meet in the fucking world.
hanlon's law. no normal person is going to throw a fit if you misgender them. it only becomes a problem when you passive-aggressively misgender them after you're corrected
But that's the problem, why do they need to accept that their interpretation of life is INCORRECT objectively just because you feel sad when people have judgments of your life.
Yes, because I'm supposed to be able to telepathically know the gender identity of every single person I meet, and if I don't I'm the worst person on the planet. I don't say this much, but get over yourself, not every mistake is an attack.
Of course, that is why many people have stated over and over again that they do not get angry over simple and honest mistakes about mislabelling gender/sex/orientation. It is the fact that he kept defending his view that pissed people off.
Those all refer to collectives. Bro is the best universal term I can think of for individuals.
"They" can be singular, actually. It's called a "epicene they".
"they" "theirs" but of course most of the time you can just ask what someone's gender is and use that?
I always figured it would be awkward to ask everybody there gender identity especially considering that most people I meet will match there gender identity with there biological gender.
Getting REALLY fucking tired of this PC bullshit.
i know what you're saying, and you're being an idiot. just because two groups of people are oppressed doesnt mean that neither of them can play the victim card.
I'm not saying GSMs can't play the victim card - i'm just saying it isn't worth playing it by simply saying they collectively are victims of violence - that simply doesn't work. If he'd said something like "GSMs are 50% more likely to be the victim of violence than <x>" sure, ok, that's a good argument. [editline].[/editline] Out of curiosity what does GSM stand for? Last time I looked it was a type of mobile network
But that's the problem, why do they need to accept that their interpretation of life is INCORRECT objectively just because you feel sad when people have judgments of your life.
your grasp of language is objectively poor "him" and "her" describe gender, not sex
Getting REALLY fucking tired of this PC bullshit.
getting REALLY fucking tired of people getting tired of PC
