and yet a lot of people ask "Why do people say Americans are dumb?"
I'm pretty sure if you took the bottom 10% of any country you'd get similar, if not worse, results. Don't be so pretentious.
100 in 100 Steam users think CSS is a game.
but it is
but it is
It's also something used in web design

Not incredibly far off the mark, since everyone knows std is a namespace. Right...?
Hyper Taxed Murika Language
Let me fix the title "1 in 10 people of 2,392 living in the U.S. think HTML is an STD."
I've always been really suspicious of survey's ever since there was that one that talked about how stupid Americans were... while pretty much every other country the survey was taken in got even lower scores. Yeah, surveys are bullshit. Although I am not surprised people didn't know what SEO is, considering I didn't before coming to this thread either.
why would SEO be a commonly known term amongst the general public [editline]5th March 2014[/editline] haha i bet u don't know what CSS stands for u sheeple faglord hahaha
Let me fix the title "1 in 10 people of 2,392 living in the U.S. think HTML is an STD."
So, like. Have you never done a stats course in your life or something? 2k sample size is pretty fucking huge and can represent a massive population with a very good reliability.
and yet a lot of people ask "Why do people say Americans are dumb?"
Shut your mouth or I'll start stereotyping your teeth.
The study involved 2,392 men and women 18 years of age or older. The participants were not told that the study was specifically looking into their knowledge of tech terms. They were presented with both tech and non-tech terms and were asked to choose from three possible definitions. "Hence why a mix of both normal and technology-related words were used," the company said in a statement. [Updated 9:40 a.m. PST, March 5: The origin and veracity of the survey have come under question by a journalism ethics website. The firm that conducted the survey, 10 Yetis Public Relations, said it stands by its work and has provided the full survey results. The survey is "100% genuine, and it's a valid survey," said Leanne Thomas, a senior account executive for 10 Yetis Public Relations. Thomas said the survey was conducted over email over the course of seven days. She said participants of the survey were given no incentive to respond.]
This is the result of a survey of 2,392 people, who were contacted by email to do said survey. They were people responding to spam email. Of course they're not all gonna be tech literate.
Let me fix the title "1 in 10 people of 2,392 living in the U.S. think HTML is an STD."
"how does sociological sampling work?"
