There is a 0.00001% these Swiss conscripts will see war.
17% of statistics are made up. Still doesn't make it right
I'll help her because I'm a good person. If you're forcing someone to do something good it's not genuine because they didn't have a choice in the matter.
A good act is still done.
I'd like to know how many of you Americans have been in Switzerland [editline]25th September 2013[/editline]
17% of statistics are made up. Still doesn't make it right
Dude it's switzerland
17% of statistics are made up. Still doesn't make it right
I seriously hope you didn't believe that was an actual statistic I said.
A good act is still done.
Except you need to look at the bigger picture and realise that is wasn't so good to force someone to do a good deed when that person doesn't need to do that good deed.
I'd like to know how many of you Americans have been in Switzerland [editline]25th September 2013[/editline] Dude it's switzerland
It's ok, Switzerland is a strange place for most people, even for the Germans at times :v:
What the hell do you think the civil service does but help people? Civil service aids people. You don't want to be part of that. Ergo, you don't want to help people.
"Go work in this hospital or I'll throw you in jail." "Sorry but I'd like to choose for myself" "WHAT?! Why don't you want to help people you selfish bastard?" This is how dumb you sound.
I'll help her because I'm a good person. If you're forcing someone to do something good it's not genuine because they didn't have a choice in the matter.
I'll let the first one slide because I really don't want to mock you. You aren't being forced to help that person, you are being taught that it's good to help that person.
"Go work in this hospital or I'll throw you in jail." "Sorry but I'd like to choose for myself" "WHAT?! Why don't you want to help people you selfish bastard?" This is how dumb you sound.
So you're not denying you said you don't want to help people?
I'll let the first one slide because I really don't want to mock you. You aren't being forced to help that person, you are being taught that it's good to help that person.
Oh, I'm dumb for telling someone that it's good to help people and that it's your choice whether you help that person or not. OKAY DOKAY
Do what the government says, if you don't like it, suck it up. Well at least now I know where Ayn Rand was coming from, God fucking help me.
It's not permanent, you get payed and you leave with a set of skills that will serve you for the rest of your life. Conscription is in no way comparable to nationalization of industry or wealth redistribution.
rosthouse, do you mind informing me if someone who is against ALL of the conscription, military, civil service, civil protection, etc goes to jail? Since you know, you live there.
So you're not denying you said you don't want to help people?
I said I don't want to be FORCED to help people. There's a pretty big difference. Please don't mince words in your attempt to paint me as a horrible person thanks. [editline]25th September 2013[/editline]
Oh, I'm dumb for telling someone that it's good to help people and that it's your choice whether you help that person or not. OKAY DOKAY
No you're dumb because you're forcing someone into the situation.
It's not permanent, you get payed and you leave with a set of skills that will serve you for the rest of your life. Conscription is in no way comparable to nationalization of industry or wealth redistribution.
are you saying that wealth redistribution is worse than conscription
No you're dumb because you're forcing someone into the situation.
No one is forced to use their tiny little head to think for a moment and say: "Maybe I should help?" Again, you aren't being FORCED TO HELP PEOPLE, who are being TAUGHT TO MAKE THE RIGHT DECISIONS. Argumentum ad nauseam
It's not permanent, you get payed and you leave with a set of skills that will serve you for the rest of your life. Conscription is in no way comparable to nationalization of industry or wealth redistribution.
Would you be okay with, say, forcing everybody to go to college? [editline]25th September 2013[/editline]
No one is forced to use their tiny little head to think for a moment and say: "Maybe I should help?" Again, you aren't being FORCED TO HELP PEOPLE, who are being TAUGHT TO MAKE THE RIGHT DECISIONS. Argumentum ad nauseam
Who's to say they don't already know how to be a good person.
No one is forced to use their tiny little head to think for a moment and say: "Maybe I should help?" Argumentum ad nauseam
Ok do they are being forced to be taught "how to be ahold person" is that better
The same things will always be brought up by people who don't know what a small country is like. No actual valid points are being made against conscription, just simple "But it's not okay to force people".
rosthouse, do you mind informing me if someone who is against ALL of the conscription, military, civil service, civil protection, etc goes to jail? Since you know, you live there.
I'm not a lawyer, but I believe you have to pay a fine of some sorts. It can get quiet expensive. I think you used to go to jail, but that's not the case anymore.
So you're not denying you said you don't want to help people?
Are you trying to emulate a kafka novel on purpose, or does it just come naturally? Serving the state helps people, boy. You do want to help people, dontcha?
Who's to say they don't already know how to be a good person.
A good person can't make the wrong decisions?
The same things will always be brought up by people who don't know what a small country is like. Seriously, I'm reading through law books now :v:
A good person can't make the wrong decisions?
The military can't make the wrong decisions just as often?
The same things will always be brought up by people who don't know what a small country is like. No actual valid points are being made against conscription, just simple "But it's not okay to force people".
Don't be a goddamned hypocrite. You've yet to make one valid point for conscription that isn't essentially "it's for your own good." What? Pointing out that you are forced into servitude isn't a valid point?
A good person can't make the wrong decisions?
What wrong decision are you referring here, I just want to make sure.
that is a fucking incredibly valid point and i have no idea how it's just sailing over your head
But it's already been explained and you keep bringing it up, if your only argument is that, something that has been justified by 73% of a country with conscription, those in it, the people who experienced conscription of this type, what's the point to try and justify it over and over if you bring the same thing up and the same justifications are brought up? It's a loop of an argument that'll lead nowhere. If you're not okay with conscription in your country, then fine, America doesn't need it at all, look how big it is! On contrary to Switzerland.
73% of 46%. Not everyone votes.
And then you pick up keywords and twisted them up so you can try and reconcile your hatred towards this. SH in a nutshell, I should have learned with Dass not to bother anymore.
