the perpetrator
Yep, called it. That looks like a drug-fucked bogan to me.

Just Facebook gossip at the moment, but apparently the perpetrator is linked to this stabbing which happened very recently http://www.9news.com.au/national/2017/01/20/09/23/melbourne-man-allegedly-stabs-brother-multiple-times-in-overnight-row?app=applenews

that mad cunt hitting the car with some sort of bat

The cunt was on bail, of course he was.
The amount of fucking criminal cunts committing crime while on bail is insane, criminal justice system in Melbourne is too lenient.

It's like that all across Australia; the judges are too soft and will give everyone bail

the perpetrator
Low life scum. I hope to god he gets a life sentence for this. You couldn't argue this was manslaughter either, this is straight up murder
Updates
He said the arrested man had an extensive history of family violence, drug and mental health problems. The man had come to police attention in recent days because of some assaults.
What a piece of shit
Police shot the man who was the sole occupant of the vehicle and he received bullet wounds.
I hope they really fucking hurt the dipshit
Police understand the incident is linked to a stabbing that took place in Windsor early this morning (20 January) involving parties known to one another.
Following this incident, it is alleged the same man took a woman, who is known to him, hostage in his car. She managed to escape from the car on the Bolte Bridge earlier today.
I'm at a loss for words here
[editline]20th January 2017[/editline]
I really hope that the judges that let him out on bail are feeling like shit because of this. Why would any judge even consider giving this kind of person the chance of bail? Hopefully the Vic government responds by toughening the bail laws.

bruh there's been even worse cases of the courts being lenient as fuck.
http://www.theage.com.au/victoria/violent-criminal-stephen-jake-spiteri-granted-bail-before-allegedly-shooting-man-20161016-gs3hmh.html
His final successful bail application came after he had allegedly pointed a loaded gun at a police officer, prompting a scathing assessment of the magistrate by one of the state's most senior Supreme Court judges.

He's a danger to the community, that's what he is.
See, I reckon the risk's enormous. And I reckon the chance of him not re-offending is close to zero, but that's not going to be - what my private view of what I think about these sort of cases isn't going to be how I'm going to determine the case at the end of the day.
The next step is something really, really serious because it's the pulling of the trigger.
How many chances are you entitled to have?
- Justice Coghlan on Stephen Spiteri
Not to mention the insane increase of home invasions.
If the Andrews Government doesn't go to strengthen up the bail laws right away, then in my opinion they are trashing all the amazing infrastructure work they are doing. There is no way I could consider voting for them.
I was there when this happen, It was a sliver car that hit people and crashed in Bourke St Mall and there were shots fired.
I was there when this happen, It was a sliver car that hit people and crashed in Bourke St Mall and there were shots fired.
It was not a silver car... it was most definitely a red car.
There were grey police cars following though.
Damn just saw the news report. Apparently 3 dead one was a young child. :(
Some of the reports I read were sickening. Hope the injured pull through alright

It's really sad seeing a lot of people on Facebook blaming this on Muslims. Ironically, those same people making those comments are all bogans, and the perpetrator here was also a bogan. Apparently white people can't possibly do bad things.
It's like that all across Australia; the judges are too soft and will give everyone bail
There are far too many fucking bleeding hearts out there that keep pushing for reduced punishments. Usually accompanied with comments like "he had a bad childhood" or "he's from a poor family", as if that changes the fact that prisons exist to separate dangerous people from the community.
Imagine if people went "it's not their fault they have a mental illness, they shouldn't be locked up for it!"

While probably not the most appropriate time to make that kind of comment, he has a point. If this guy had had a gun there would all be talks of how it's the fault of guns in the community instead of accepting this is a drug-fucked bogan who should never have been let out on bail.

good thing he didn't have easy access to a gun then huh

Lucky guns, like the ability to drive cars... are licenced... right?

Not really my point. I think here we all know what the underlying problem here was: this guy should not have been in the community. If it had been a gun the media would have blind-sided people into ignoring the bigger issue and blamed it all on guns.
Either way, maybe we shouldn't shit up this thread with this debate.
this guy should not have been in the community.
100% agree - and I blame it on the lax bail laws at the moment.
100% agree - and I blame it on the lax bail laws at the moment.
I'm not even sure if it's lax bail laws, it might just be legal precedent.
Anyway, people who have been charged with violent crimes should not be on bail.

I actually kind of half agree with this. If a schizophrenic has a psychotic break or something and kills someone, they shouldn't be thrown in prison. However, that does mean they should be put in a mental hospital for a looooong time.
i don't think jailing someone with mental illness does anything to make their illness any better
[editline]20th January 2017[/editline]
that new prison in Australia that actually makes the inmates live in more of a house than a jail is nice
Of course there are retards on facebook blaming the police because they didn't stop the prick while he was doing donuts. How can people be so retarded?
Evil bastard. Hope he stays in jail for a fairly long time.
I hope you Australians will be alright.

What? They're expecting the police to shoot a guy doing donuts?
What? They're expecting the police to shoot a guy doing donuts?
Well yeah, don't you realise police officers are superhuman SASR troopers that can hit a small fast moving target while there are shitloads of people behind the target?
