The teacher that taught me about WW1 was an old hag who didn't utter a single word about colonies ever (never even mentioned Algeria) so it's not surprising that I lack knowledge about that one war. I mean shit, even for WW2 most teachers still tell the students that France wasn't a losing sack of collaborating shit during the war and that we fought bravely and that the resistance was everywhere and that Petain wasn't a racist piece of shit at all. It's true that we had a pretty tough resistance going on and that it was ferocious to say the least, but it was still a tiny part of the population, most of France was collaborating or passive, a ton of people were lying assholes who abused the occupation to get their neighbors arrested and Petain was an dipshit anti semite who was perfectly aware of what he was doing.
