They said that to the to scientists back then too, well not the same names, but they called them crazy like you are now. Whose to say he won't become a great name someday? You don't know that? You are judging him because hes open minded about an unnatural event. Seems kinda rude if you ask me.
this isn't an argument against being an unscientific idiot

This guy has nothing except "uh well it's fun to think out of the box".
So you are bashing him for being open minded? I really don't see the point :v
Point is he's treating it as a likely possibility, when it's so far from likely it's not even funny. If everyone treated what they wanted to be true as a likely possibility, science would be dead and buried long ago.
So you are bashing him for being open minded? I really don't see the point :v
so hes closer to being a bad science fiction writer than a scientist?
so hes more of a bad science fiction writer than a scientist?
If anything I'd go with a more paranormal writer. Sounds like a plot out of The X-files.
Well until someone comes out and says they did the crop circle he has a right to believe what ever he wants lol. I don't really see the point in bashing someone because they get excited about crop circles.
Well until someone comes out and says they did the crop circle he has a right to believe what ever he wants lol.
Sure, he can believe what he want, but as I said before, it has no place in science. (And ya'll are the ones who brought great scientists into the picture here). And I reserve my right to think he's being stupid for believing something he has no real reason to believe apart from "it might be that way!!!".
Well until someone comes out and says they did the crop circle he has a right to believe what ever he wants lol. So the choices presented here are A) A species spent a minimum of [del]4 200[/del] 4.2 years travelling here (or moved faster then light, which would meant they would be stupidly more advanced then us) using tech we can only dream on and massive amounts of resources. On coming here they make some scribbles in a field and then nothing else. B) Some people with good fantasy bring some planks, maybe a gps and some string into a field and create some seriously impressive images, but still made by people. Here is an example QI had some people make using a plank and some string image here Now, personally i do believe there is life out there somewhere. The universe is massive, it feels way to egotistic to say we are the only intelligent life out there. On a side note, Anyone here read Deepness by Vernor Vinge ? It present a scenario where a more advanced species end up spying on a less intelligent species. Basically, sit in a hidden asteroid and monitor everything. If there is a more intelligent species in the system, that feels much more plausable scenario then scribbling in the dirt every now and then I do hope people continue making crop circles though, they look cool as hell, but i know people make them Edit: Woops, brainfart on the years, thanks LarparNar
Well until someone comes out and says they did the crop circle he has a right to believe what ever he wants lol. I don't really see the point in bashing someone because they get excited about crop circles.
It is rather ignorant to believe in something that has been debunked many times in both the media and scientific articles. And since we are calling up the long dead great names of the past, allow me to quote Plato. "Ignorance, the root and stem of all evil." Educating yourself is one of the most amazing things we have today. We have the ability to learn about nearly anything whenever we want. Why would anyone chase after a pipedream when we have so much more credible theories with basis in reality? I'm all for creativity, but don't mix it in with science.
would make me laugh if an intelligent species were actually trying to make contact and we all just dismiss it as some lonely farmer looking for media attention "so blorg how did the blue planet respond..have they mastered the code we sent them" "well some of them turned up but then a lot of them just laughed and turned away..the only ones still there seem to be wearing hats made of tin foil and smell like waste chute" "dammit blorg that's test number 1565 failed! keep trying! ....you think they would have learned by now"
A) A species spent a minimum of 4 200 years travelling here (or moved faster then light, which would meant they would be stupidly more advanced then us)
Small correction, closest star is 4.2 light years away, not 4200. In fact almost all the stars you see at night are closer than 4000 light years. This is all speculation anyway, and the way we do science isn't speculation.
You have no proof however, just an assumption. Exiting the sphere of human comfort and normality is really the only way humans have progressed beyond hunter-gatherer societies. Maybe the aliens are there and see crop circles as a desperate means of communication? Maybe they don't make greater strides to interact with humanity because they want to wait until we're a less violent species? Maybe casual time travelers from the far future are just fucking with our puny ancient brains with their art generating crop flattener wands? What if a bunch of very sneaky ninja spies are traveling the world with the sole purpose of making crop circles for some sort of hidden Russian agency? I'm just saying it's funner to observe other possibilities, and you'll end up discovering a lot yourself with a little patience and curiosity.
There are people who believe aliens draw symbols in our crops, people who believe there are "casual" time travellers, people who believe the 1969 moon-landing was fake, people who avoid putting floor 13 on elevators and people who believe in astrology. People are way too superstitious.
Hey 13 is an unlucky number man. Don't try to bull me on that. :tinfoil:
The reason I can't take things like this serious at all is because people like this exist. :v: http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1340885
wouldn't you do the same thing? It's like leaving corpses in your sims house, just to watch them flip several kinds of shit.
Maybe we're Sims ourselves. We're all an alien's Sim.
Somewhat relevant.
If you consider it being staged. I'd recommend looking up other videos, or giving me some sort of list of groups of people who illegally break into peoples crops to make these circles, any of them. This is just one of the dozens of circles that pop up across the globe daily. If there's anything that gives me a tinfoil hat boner, it's probably crop circles. The universe is vastly bigger than any human can imagine. You can't just denounce everything as publicity stunts or future movie teasers.
It's just that because some (many) of these are confirmed as frauds, I so strongly doubt an advanced form of life would choose a method like this to make contact when it would actually REQUIRE that they are not discovered after making it. You don't ring the doorbell and then hide. SOME PEOPLE DO BUT FUCK THEM.
Pretty sure if aliens wanted to communicate to us, they'd actually use something we'd easily understand and not ruin our fucking food at the same time. What dumb aliens would think we'd like someone wrecking our fucking crops just to say "hello".
[t]http://i.imgur.com/gOkp4ID.jpg[/t] Not arguing whether it was aliens or not since that is, as people have already said, almost certainly not the case. But considering our own attempts at communicating with aliens such as the above image (Voyager's golden disc recording) it seems like something so seemingly convoluted could indeed be possible as a form of communication. Of course writing in our crops seems an oddly convoluted way of going about it but that's beside the point.
it's not likely at all but... what if it's legit? what if it's actually aliums?
its the sumerians from nibiru n shit. i researched it on youtube for 2 days, its legit
What if the reason we haven't found evidence of alien communications is because they communicate through wheat instead of through radio transmissions. They've been trying to contact us for years but we keep just making hamburger buns out of their messages.
If you were an extraterrestrial being capable of FTL travel and visiting any world you wanted, worlds that are solid diamonds, Nebula rich in anything you need or want Why would you doodle in cornfields? That's like going out and buying an Alienware gaming PC and just using it for Notepad
I like this 'alien' crop circle in the snow
Can see path where tractor rode to it and tried to cover it back.
The video smacks of viral marketing for a movie or something
People are still doing these? I thought the novelty of trolling people with crop circles died in the 90's.
Naww dude, drawing cryptic symbols with lasers and watching as the stupid humans blame it on eachother is still a popular pass time amongst Aliens!
It always irks me when a bulk of the video is just seeing the ground and not the subject (the green lights) (regardless if its fake or not) of the damn video.
People like you are why these guys go out and make these things.
I don't believe crop circles are made by aliens but if you've seen a cattle mutilation then you know someone or something had to have done it. When I was a couple of years old a cousin of mine outside of my city had all his cows mutilated and took pictures of them. They were missing their reproductive organs and looked like they had been burned off with a laser. I'm also not saying aliens did it. All I know is something did it.
