Oh wow surprise surprise. An older phone that is just ahead of a refresh is getting outsold by the flagship of their biggest competitor, after who knows how long being ahead of it.
What I find more impressive between android phones and apple phones are the fact that phones like the Galaxy S series can sell the amount that they do... If you want an Apple phone you HAVE to buy an iPhone since it is the only Apple phone available. If you want an android phone you have hundreds of phones to choose from. The fact that the Galaxy S series can sell 20+ million phones at all while competing not only with apple but with other android phones is absolutely amazing.

passed one up for the new Atrix half the price, twice as not-gay looking
The OS isn't dated at all, what are you talking about?
It looks ancient to me, it just feels like it hasn't changed enough since the first version. People keep trying to use "well it doesn't need changing" as an excuse, but how far it's being nudged out of the market says otherwise to me. Just my opinion.
A new Iphone is coming out literally in a few weeks. why would anyone buy an iphone4s?
I'm planning to buy one in a couple of weeks.
I'd legitimately say you wait IF the iphone 5 is some sort of god phone, like I definitely doubt it will be, and the s3 could still beat it due to Apple sucking...but before you get anything set in stone, see how the iphone 5 stacks up, and if you can choose between them, and the iphone 5 is better, or a lot better, or whatever, get that. Don't go by brand and bitchout like some people on FP because its an iPhone, they're still good phones.
A new Iphone is coming out literally in a few weeks. why would anyone buy an iphone4s?
It's more just impressive that a single Android phone is selling so well, there's so much choice in the Android market that it's amazing that just one of the many phones is selling better than the top iOS device. They have been marketing the shit out of it though.
I think this is a stupid comparison. Most people who got the iPhone 4, are waiting for the iPhone 5. Everyone who wants an iPhone is also waiting, for the iPhone 5. I wonder if it beat iPhone 4 sales when that originally came out in comparison.

This is obviously going to happen with the delay of the iPhone 5, presumably people have worked out a buying pattern that matches the regular-as-clockwork releases of each iPhone iteration and with it being delayed a few months other phones are going to take up quite a few of the sales that would normally go to the new iPhone. More power to 'em really, what with Android almost completely out of the territory of 'clunky piece of shit' it's honestly great to see it and iOS compete on fairly equal terms; competition is always good. Shame WP7/8 aren't even close to playing with the big boys. But this is quite a milestone regardless tbh, I don't think this has happened o this extent before. If it was going to be anyone it would be samsung though, the brand's a household name and the galaxy phones are quickly becoming one as well. I wonder if the Samsung/Apple verdict had anything to do with it? Probably not but idk

It's got more features than it did though and is still perfectly usable, though these new features are pretty much exact copies of jailbreak apps that have existed for ages. Not too much of a fan of their hardon for gradients and design metaphors (like the notepaper-y notes app etc), I like the general clean look and 'power user-y but still simple' user experience vanilla ICS has got. iOS is still intrinsically familiar to almost every consumer though.
A year old phone is being outsold by a new flagship phone. Is this right?
Still happy with my Galaxy S 1 with Cyanogen 9
I feel like iOS is similar to OSX. On a mac, it seems crisper and nicer placed (at least to me), and the UI is much more polished. Then you move over to windows and it may work better in a few areas, but it doesn't give the same feel.
I still have the Galaxy S I
Don't worry guys Apple will get sued anyways at the launch of iPhone 5 by google for using LTE
Got Samsung galaxy s2. Fuck the 3, as I cant afford it. :( miui m2 will beat then all
I still have my Galaxy S2, which is superior to the Iphone 4S too :v:
i9000 here, I really can't think of a reason to upgrade except the kinda broken GPS chip
Don't worry guys Apple will get sued anyways at the launch of iPhone 5 by google for using LTE
Could you please post where you read that the IPhone would be using LTE technology?
http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1209066 Samsung announced that, but Apple hasn't confirmed LTE yet.
That's what I was getting at, 1, that he should have said Samsung, and 2, that he doesn't even know if Apple will be using LTE technology, and therefor can say with no certainty that Apple will be sued.
one can infer that apple will most likely be using LTE.
