Where does all the stuff in gta come from? real life. It's not like kid's are going out beating aliens up with crowbars because of video games, video games are a scapegoat for what is wrong with the parent's teaching skills. And besides, a lot of people play gta, which is probably the reason that people who play it are "more likely" to break the law driving recklessly. Also, a goody two shoes who never breaks the law while driving is probably less likely to play gta than someone who might slip up while driving and break the law.
To many flaws in the study. People who agree with it are more than likely trying to blame something/someone for the problems they have or that they have with their kids.

What was that about video games?
I know how to race as well (technique and tactic wise) as I do because I played racing games (real ones). This is why I go kart racing every other weekend now.
Also have had my license forever and haven't had an issue and it all takes is being careful.
Maybe it's because I'm not a blundering idiot that thinks that driving in GTA translates to driving in real life.
I don't suck at driving.
I just have a heavy right foot, that's all.
Same here. Racing sims (Live For Speed :D) FTW
LFS and a G25 taught me how to drive stick and control a car.

My joystick taught me how to fly a F22 and a A380.

Hey you, don't you be warezing demos now. You're taking money away from free stuff!
Greenman is the reason why companies stopped making demos.
If they tested subjects before and after playing I might be able to believe it a bit more. But in my experience, the "boy racer" types that drive so stupidly tend to buy more racing games. It's reckless drivers play more driving games than driving games cause reckless drivers.
i became a reckless driver when i played driving simulator 2007 i am now a menace to society
The FAA won't certify me as a pilot now because I let slip that when I play IL-2, I ram planes when I run out of ammunition as a last resort.

maybe they should just give you more ammo
I always pick up a hooker, fuck her in a dark alley, pay her, then speed away with her still in the car, screaming and struggling in fear as I run down and shoot pedestrians, smash and scrape the car before coming to a sudden stop by crashing into a wall, sending her through the windshield while I am miraculously unharmed. Afterward, I casually walk up to her as she lies there in pain, barely alive, and wait for the ambulance to show. I kill both paramedics after they tend to her and then beat her to death with a baseball bat, taking back my money and any money she made earlier.
I just can't help myself, I can't distinguish the difference between fiction and reality.
They're forgetting that Teens are bad drivers in general, not just those who play games. Seriously, I count myself lucky every time I see my car intact in the parking lot.

Gasp, playing a game where you don't have to follow traffic rules doesn't help you learn traffic rules? News to me!

I loved that game, and that era, back when games were games and not "murder simulators", and women weren't allowed to get withing five meters of anything electronic outside the kitchen and the tv.

Shit ban, he could have downloaded from steam, there is no evidence he was going to torrent it or whatever.
Fuck, jesus christ guys.
I'd say if anything it improves your reactions in real life.
Say your car drives over some oil and starts to spin. Had you done it in a videogame, you may think "Gotta hit the break and settle it out" whereas if you hadn't tried it in a videogame, you may panic.
Sorth of like that norwegian kid that saved his sister by something he had learned in WoW.

Good ban. Him downloading a demo could have caused untold network congestion bringing down the entire internet as we know it!
But really, video games probably improve driving ability. Wasn't it shown earlier that gamers have better reaction times?
They're right because D-Pad with absolutely no force feedback = Real life steering wheel.
Totally.
What if I play Live For Speed with a Logitech G25 wheel? That's pretty much real driving. Not that I would know what real driving is like.

Ahaha, no.
I actually drive pretty slowly when playing HL2, except when the cops aka Combine are onto me :v:

omg we r so alike
If video games affect people's abilities to handle such situations in real life, why does the US military use a video game for recruitment?
I mean, playing America's Army would surely make everyone simply run around on the battlefield, shooting everyone they see.

One of the only driving games I actually enjoy. I also have the 1st Carmageddon somewhere at home.. In French though, but still rather fun.
Remember Mrs. Puff's thought when she gave Spongebob his driving licences.
