• Video games explains why you suck at driving

Right. Let me demonstrate something to you, researchers. I call it mathematics: Gamers = Teenagers = Drivers There's a certain percentage of teenagers who are dumbfucks with no sense of self preservation. And there's a percentage who can drive without the need to floor it on every open stretch. Now, occasionally, following the law of probability, you are going to have teenagers who are also gamers and are also bad drivers. The fact that they used 'may' means that this is another survey that could just as easily have been conducted if the head researcher had just done his homework.
What is this

when I play IL-2
The people actually being affected by video games are the ones that shouldn't be behind the wheels of a vehicle anyways, those kind of people are the ones that actually do shoot at random people, and die in car crashes.
Flight Simulator showed me how to fly a airplane, Now look at where Im at.
Yeah, I'm not that good at driving. Whoops.
Nostalgia'd I still remember that big fucking yellow truck with the spike on it.
Oh you silly researchers. I think in all my time driving I have spent around 95% of it not speeding more than 4 or 5 mph over, or somewhere below that. My reflexes are pretty good though, which I can really only have video games to blame for. There have been a few times I avoided accidents because I could react in time to barely miss people.
Uhm This Is not true at all. I've been playing GTA IV since it came out. And I drive over the AI in the game and drive reckless in the game. I've began taking driving lessons and I don't drive like they do ingame. Of course I do stuff wrong, when I'm stressed while driving. I know many of my friend that are driving. Some of them don't even play games. Only Facebook and stuff like that. And they drive crazy and loose their license. This is just to keep people from playing games.
That's a lie, i don't even know which side the gas-pedal is on. Though, i'm 16 now so i can start taking driving lessons.
i played gta iv the night before my practical driving test to practise traffic rules tbh
I usually try my best to avoid gray cars, but traffic's a bitch sometimes depending on what's on the radio.
To the contrary, driving in real life has made me more inclined to follow the rules of the road in GTA, rather than making me a reckless driver in real life. [editline]11:24PM[/editline] Then again in GTA I still very rarely follow the rules of the road, but sometimes I'm in the mood for driving like an AI. I dunno
This just in gamers who play shooters are now first in line for military drafts because studys show they Handel combat better
Flight Simulator showed me how to fly a airplane, Now look at where Im at.
Because of flight sim 2004/X I've nearly got my Recreation license. Seriously.
Good ban. Him downloading a demo could have caused untold network congestion bringing down the entire internet as we know it! But really, video games probably improve driving ability. Wasn't it shown earlier that gamers have better reaction times?
I have the reaction time and reflexes of a motherfucking jet fighter.
I always thought playing video games made me a better driver. It made me pay attention to detail and my environment when controlling a vehicle (most people in my age group don't do that very well).
My god, are these scientists blind? Driving in a game is completely different from driving in real life. In a game, you can do things that are completely illegal in real life. That doesn't mean you suck at driving. That's why it's called A GAME. Where it's OK to fool around in and run people over. It can even reduce stress from real life traffic.
Fuck that I've been playing driving and violent games for most of my life and I never once had a serious thought about driving on the sidewalk or some shit. Although...in a world with no rules...
I hate the Alone in The Dark driving. Fuck!!!!!
I couldn't find the turn signal button in GTA so I gave up.
This article is so much bullshit it's starting to smell, I've played videogames since I was 2 and when I took my drivers license I passed both the theory exam and the driving exam at 100%, I have never had a car accident 5 years later. The girl who was taking the driving exam on the same day as me had never played a game and she almost ran someone over during the exam, needless to say she failed :v:
This happens every time someone drops the blunt.
Who needs driving? I learned how to double-jump from playing video games! :smug:
I drive completely different in real life compared to say Grand Theft Auto 4.
Gran Turismo 2 taught me a lot of the basics of how cars behave in certain conditions. In fact I probably would have sideswiped a tree were it not for the many hours I've clocked up in driving sims.
Bullshit! Only idiots don't even know how to differentiate real-life and virtual life.
I'm a forza 3 champion, therefore when i start driving soon, i will be a champion irl. Because video games and reality are the same thing. Because i have no sense of danger in the video game, i won't feel it in real life :O
Bullshit! Only idiots don't even know how to differentiate real-life and virtual life.
Nice bump.
Totally true, I always drive over the sidewalks.
If they tested subjects before and after playing I might be able to believe it a bit more. But in my experience, the "boy racer" types that drive so stupidly tend to buy more racing games. It's reckless drivers play more driving games than driving games cause reckless drivers.
This is exactly what I was going to say. Kids who like to race around play racing games, how is this news?
I totally agree with this! I play Mario Kart at a friends place the other day, and threw banana peels out the window the whole way home! I just couldn't help it, since I played it on the game it seemed the right thing to do.
