This isn't the first time 4Chan has attacked another company (in the past several years they have attacked AT&T, Verizon, Microsoft, Google, Apple, Sprint, T-Mobile, Time Warner Cable (not Road Runner surprisingly), AOL, HP and Dell.
Also, the Verizon and AT&T DDoS attack started around Feb. 2nd 2010 and ended about 8-10 hours later. AT&T waited a full 24 hours before unblocking the 4Chan servers while Verizon waited until the afternoon of Feb. 8th 2010 (roughly 3:00pm ET). Also several Verizon and AT&T customers could not get to the internet on the 2nd and 3rd due to the attack which is why AT&T and Verizon acted to block 4Chan until the attack was over.
4Chan has a history of attacking other companies. Most companies have responded by blocking 4Chan's network.

Because if I recall correctly the last time that 4chan was blocked by AT&T, it was 4chana that was being ddosed and AT&T blocked traffic to stop the attacks
