I got oil from this old ass story
This is all 9 /11's fault
I'm just curious, would you be fine with me opening a churro stand on the corner of your street?
You're not a minor
and WHY weren't they ARRESTED?
filthy criminals
these girls are dirty scrubs they are on my territory I've got about 5000 lemonade stands so far
ok im gonna be contrarian party pooper but
lack of use of basic health guidelines (pretty much a given if unsupervised by an adult)
kids using bad ingredients (ranging from infested sugar to rotten lemons)
kids being assholes (pissing in the lemonade, putting shit into it)
adults manipulating kids into selling drugs under the guise of a lemonade stand (it could happen)
This is one of the dumbest things i have ever read. Get your head out of your ass.
There is a sliding scale of "whether or not this food item should be salable without government interference" and lemonade is pretty far away from a fried churro.
Just curious, where do you draw the line? If an adult runs a food truck selling lemonade is he also exempt from public food safety regulations in your eyes? Is it because they're kids, or because they're selling lemonade, or what?
If they're going to have exceptions to food safety laws, they need to be spelled out in what is obviously an ill-conceived city ordnance, not left to the local police to selectively enforce.
how about we just make a free online quiz that teaches kids food safety and when they complete the free quiz they can print out a special permit for lemonade stands and the like

Doesn't change anything

Lol, he gives valid counterpoints and you tell him to get his head out of his ass? You first.
Happened in Canada a year or so ago. The world is getting too serious about everything.
Pretty much this.

^ This. Is it me, or is the world slowly working it's way to Demolition Man levels of PC stupidity?

What kind of fucking kids do you know?

The world isn't breaking bad
They should just amend the law so that kids can run these kinds of businesses without hastle. I honestly don't want to see any random guy starting his own food stand without proper food handling, etc.
God Bless the American Dream.
Holy shit what a badass.
I know back in my day we didn't have this annoying "rule of law" what is the world coming to.
I can barely tolerate this pathetic pussified world. When I was a youngin my pals and I played ball at the park and got in tussles with each other it's what turns boys into men I tell you. Kids these days. They don't know what it's like to live a wholesome, good ole boy life.
You seem like a guy that'll call the police if you saw a little kid playing doctor with their stuff toys.
"Hey impersonating a doctor is felony offense! Get on the fucking ground citizen arrest!"
I don't know what to say about this but it seems like you can't really do anything you wanted to do anymore in some to most states now. Seems like they kind of being a little bit too strict with children with laws and such.
Good on those cops.
Today, lemonade; tomorrow, heroin.
Every time.
I hate bureaucracy.
Your turn! Please enumerate all the bad things that will happen. If the good outweighs the bad, then I guess we ought to make that moral decision!
In theory, giving officers not only the power to enforce the law, but to decide what is the law, would inevitably end up with an extremely corrupt police force.
Fine with me.
Dunno about you, but I like being able to just buy food from any store and not have to second guess where it came from or whether or not it was cooked in refined sewage.
That's not what the law says and there's nothing to cops can do about it. Police officers can't arbitrarily decide what laws they are and aren't going to follow because "aw that situation is too darn cute."
Where the hell do you live? Police often enforce the laws they want, and let a bunch of stuff slide.

Maybe from a restaurant, or a store, but I don't think some dude setting up a temporary stand on a corner really needs to be looked at super duper close, especially not little kids who I can assure you aren't putting anthrax in your lemonade
I mean what the fuck is gonna happen even if the food's bad? You go get a churro from some guy, you get sick, take some bad shits and at the end of the day nobody buys fuckin' churros from him. You'll be fine.
I'd rather maybe get sick once in a long while because I accidentally ate bad food than be spending my life paranoid of extremely minor things like churros, and lemonade, and fucking with kid's childhoods. I take food from strangers, I'll eat whatever I enjoy, I'll even eat something that came off the floor if the food's clean enough. And look, I still barely ever get sick, and I'm still alive.
Not that I support shutting down lemonade stands but "the free market will solve it" is never a good reason to get rid of food safety regulation.
'Food safety regulation' should apply to manufacturers, stores, restaurants, not fuckin' stands and random dudes selling stuff.
If I set up some temporary lemonade stand or go around on my own selling some sandwiches to people, that should not be an issue. I don't need a fucking health inspector. If you don't trust food from random dudes, don't buy it. It should really be as simple as that.

I really don't understand why some people are so afraid to take the smallest risk. Do you know how many people die from food poisoning in the US every year? 3,000. That's it, out of 318.9 million people. As George Carlin so eloquently said, it's a minor risk, take a fucking chance. If you can't even play those numbers, why the fuck do you get out of bed in the morning?
