It's like they're more concerned with making someone else fail then making themselves succeed.
In the publisher department it's always a battle for the sales. The actual dedication for games you'll find below, in the developers office. EA is saying outright that they are planning to grab at most 30% of COD's market share, not overtake Activisions leading position with just one game. There's a good chance they will in a few years if they keep up the pressure however. The crown of "most popular game series within its genre" is constantly swapping heads.
There are helicopters and tanks, you move the joystick around, press a button, and twenty people explode. Killing people in BF3 is just as easy as COD.
Not for the 12 year old kiddies that constantly play COD.
"last one to the tank is a rotten egg!" *hold m1 and m2* 30 kills unless there is a competent engineer, which there never is
CoD is a vastly different experience to battlefield, 11 and 12 year olds who try out battlefield don't like it because of its complexity.
they both hurt the company, activision bumfucks any company that works with them, EA messes up the best games out and added in shitty service on most products. I would add in ubisoft as well with there terrible DRM and shitty ports, but this is not related towards EA and Activision.
I'm not going to say shit about Battlefield because I haven't played any of the games. I have 2142 floating around somewhere, but never got around to installing it. I will say however that I'm sick of Activision releasing the exact same game every couple of years.

That's not fair, Call of Duty 2 was awesome. Modern Warfare hoooowever
please explain to me the vast difference between bf3 and bf2
battlefield complex? thats a good one now arma is a complex game, but bf and cod are both games that a 2 year old can pick up and play
You're looking at this solely from your point of view, people whose first FPS was a CoD game (young teenagers) think that Battlefield is a hard game and have never even heard of arma.
please explain to me the vast difference between bf3 and bf2
BF3 is more a sequel to Bad Company 2 than it is to Battlefield 2. The gameplay is very BC2-esque, which in turn was like a cross between BF2 and Modern Warfare.
They don't give a shit about video game brands, they just look at something and if it looks entertaining to them they buy it, it's not like sports where people worship sports teams like gods or something. tl;dr MW1 was an evolution of the FPS genre, BF3 is another evolution.
That is incredibly wrong, CoD sales rely almost entirely on brand recognition just like Apple, they get their sales because people buy their products no matter how stale or outdated they truly are and their "innovation" is just stealing parts of other products and franchises and mixing them together to make something that looks unique.
BF3 is more a sequel to Bad Company 2 than it is to Battlefield 2. The gameplay is very BC2-esque, which in turn was like a cross between BF2 and Modern Warfare.
I love both of those games, if it plays like an intermediate between those two, it's gonna be a winner.
You're looking at this solely from your point of view, people whose first FPS was a CoD game (young teenagers) think that Battlefield is a hard game and have never even heard of arma.
correct good sir so many people bitch about how the vehicles in BC2 are too strong I'm like "play BF2 or ArmA"
I love both of those games, if it plays like an intermediate between those two, it's gonna be a winner.
My only criticism is that the unlock system is very heavy on unlocks providing a strong gameplay advantage. Medics in BC2 start without medkits or defibrillators, for example, and nobody gets body armor or magnum ammunition until 20-30 hours of play. If you're used to CoD, which gives you useful perks and guns from the get-go, you might be disappointed.

These are the people who you would like to convert to battlefield.
These are the people who you would like to convert to battlefield.
No, those are the kind of people I want to stay away from Battlefield.
No, those are the kind of people I want to stay away from Battlefield.
Exactly.
These are the people who you would like to convert to battlefield.
For the ones who just answered "COD", I'd like to believe in my heart they're talking about the original that started it all. But in my brain, I know that the odds of that being the case are very, very slim- that they've probably never even considered playing the original. Or the United Offensive expansion pack, for that matter. Those were FPS games, complete with an entertaining story to follow through with; not like the mindless shit the series has turned to today.
Anyone can go on Facebook and find a bunch of idiots that like something. I bet you five cent you can find people just like that that like BF3 or any game that's sold more than a million copies.
I bet you 20 cents you can't.
What's the matter? Too afraid to look on Facebook yourself and find out that you've been proven wrong?
I could easily say that I looked and not really do it and then you would owe me 20 cents, which you can keep.
Whatever. You bought fucking FACEBOOK into this, of course you found stupid people on it that like something. It's like going to a bar and expecting to find a place full of intellectuals that read literature and talk about the economy and philosophy, but than you don't find them because you know, it's a bar.
Have you ever seen the MW2 or Black Ops facebook page? It's quite funny.
Have you seen 90% of Facebook profiles? They're hilarious if you're on a high horse.
I'm not trying to have an argument, look at the MW2 or Black Ops facebook pages. Here's a link, click on "top posts" http://www.facebook.com/#!/codblackops?sk=wall&filter=12 [editline]21st August 2011[/editline] Typed in bf3 on openbook, everything seemed normal and no people who are clearly idiots claiming their love for BF3, then my retard alert went off and I thought that maybe Atlascore was right.
Cameron Smith watching BF3 trailers and gameplay and loling at all the CoD/BF flame wars for the record BF is a total Ripoff of CoD
False alarm.
BF3 is more a sequel to Bad Company 2 than it is to Battlefield 2. The gameplay is very BC2-esque, which in turn was like a cross between BF2 and Modern Warfare.
essentially bad company is a updated battlefield right? (this rant isn't nessecarily towards you) when I ask people "why does cod suck" most people say "IT'S THE SAME THING YEAR AFTER YEAR, ADDING LITTLE SNIPPETS OF NEW CONTENT AND THAT'S IT" to which I respond: "uh, like every other game IP out there?" as far as I can recall, the first, like, seven Marios were all the same game with updated graphics and perhaps a new enemy or two every time wanna know an IP that swapped up it's formula? sonic the hedgehog. remember any good sonic games that have come out in the last nine years? i can count them on one, maybe two, out of about 13-14 you may think the gameplay sucks, but get off cod's dick about being repetitive
essentially bad company is a updated battlefield right? (this rant isn't nessecarily towards you) you may think the gameplay sucks, but get off cod's dick about being repetitive
Except Bad Company and Battlefield 2 handle very differently. The objectives might be similar but gameplay and overall feel is unique in each game. As much as I love CoD2, gameplay hasn't changed one iota since then aside from killstreaks, a significantly lower skill ceiling, and unnecessary additions to the HuD.

Gabe must be laughing at these two so hard...
Fuck all of those games. I am getting skyrim. From EA completely fucking up everything again, to activision finally realizing the milking cow is finally dying. They need to find a new publisher. One that isn't a complete fucking cancer. I love all the effort that is going into this, but honestly EA and Activision both need to go dig their own graves already.
