I'll always remember that part of Mission Impossible III where he threatens Tom Cruise with something along the lines of "You have no idea who you're fucking with", and then has a drone attack the Chesapeake Bridge before he escapes with a bunch of mercenaries.
He was crazy good in MI:III.
Another reason to stay away from drugs. Rip :'(
What a shame. He was one of my favorites. RIP
What the fuck? This is the one of the last persons I wouldn't expect to die soon. R.I.P
Jesus, first Paul Walker, now Hoffman?
Its not like Paul Walker was that great or anything.
Read this as "First Jesus, Paul Walker, now Hoffman" got confused for a moment
But Jesus was the first of those men to die so you can't say it doesn't make sense.
Its not like Paul Walker was that great or anything.
yeah i mean who cares if paul walker dies he was a dick irl its not like he wasn't a drug addict and was a bigtime charity supporter
Part 1 is done already, it's part 2 that's knee-deep in filming right now. But they might've done all his scenes early, since filming usually isn't done in the order it appears in the film. We'll find out soon enough what the deal is.
Films usually shoot scenes with actors that appear the least amount of times in the film first so they can get them out of the production's hair instead of keeping them on set for months. My guess is that his stuff has already been shot. [editline]2nd February 2014[/editline]
and Uncle Phil!
Well he was pretty old.
and Uncle Phil!
uncle phil died? :(

ugh, have the "amazing actor because he's dead now" posts started
But he is pretty important in the film and one of the main antagonists [sp]He is the game master after all[/sp]
[sp]He was working with the resistance the whole time. The ending of Catching Fire showed that. And I believe he dies mid-way through Mockingjay according to book lore, iirc.[/sp]
ugh, have the "amazing actor because he's dead now" posts started
except he actually is a great actor
Damn, seems like every month a great actor dies, first Uncle Phil (old, but still), and now Philip. RIP man

My guess is that his stuff has already been shot.
I suspect the people who work with him knew about his drug habit. Therefore, if I was the producer or director, I'd make DAMN sure I shot his scenes ASAP if I was using him in a movie. That way I get the benefit of his talent while not having to worry about him flaking out or dying.
Sickening how journalists are flocking to his home.
Damn, I was hoping I misread the thread title. Hoffman was a fantastic actor, one of my favorites. He always brought such honesty to the roles I have seen him in.
ugh, have the "amazing actor because he's dead now" posts started
You are just wrong.
So it's looking like a heroin overdose. damn.
I'm going to have to rewatch the Master just to send him off. What a shitty thing. He really was an amazing actor for the last 15 or so years.
Huh, never heard of this guy before
ugh, have the "amazing actor because he's dead now" posts started
You're most likely just film illiterate then.
rest in peace (it's a Family Guy reference, but I am actually very sad about this. The man turned every performance into something incredible, even in steaming turds like Twister and Patch Adams)
