So instead of commit violence to overthrow the government, you're committing violence just for the sake of violence and doing nothing?
And thus, we bring back up his claim of fighting fire with fire which effectively does nothing positive.
How is attacking a government building or inflicting harm to government members helping policy changing?
haven't we already talked about this?
How about you go ahead? I'll be sitting on my nice comfy chair and stay tuned on the news of some retard [sp]you[/sp] getting tazed for breaking a shop window during a riot. No one is going to stop you, you can do whatever you want to do.
You go try to change things. I'll sit here and become obese while swallowing more propaganda. :v:

kudos to grecian people for taking action for what they believe in, even if the actions dont make a whole lot of sense
its better than the americans who accept every bad decision the government makes
Thank
Don't want to sound all "fuck da poleece," but I honestly cant have remorse for police in general, especially not in this case. Many police officers get into that profession because they have a hyper-active sense of authority, or because they want to "bust some hippie skulls :downs:," or, finally, a naive and false feeling of heroism. None of those reasons are commendable or even trustworthy. I may be making assumptions (as are all of you), but Im guessing that the police in greece are all of the above. Anybody who strives for a position of authority (especially in the circumstances of riot police) has ulterior motives.
Reading a lot of the pro-police/government comments, it sounds like people assume the police are some divine governmental authority that acts in the best interest of everybody, which is not the case. Don't forget that life in Greece isn't exactly good right now, while you're sitting in front of your computer watching events unfold in countries you've never been to it's easy to assume that the riots are only damaging to shopkeepers and good people, but that may not be the case. While riots do lack finesse and diplomacy, they do shake things up enough that people higher up in governmental authority will be a lot more cautious while treading on thin ice. It is important for a conceited government to fear it's general population, as that's who they are supposed to be serving the best interest of.
you.
I think the mean age of Facepunch is the main problem here...

Rioting doesn't do shit. It's a product, not a catalyst.

doing nothing doesn't do shit. people who care about their livelihood are free to protest in any way they want, riots being one of them. if you want to watch tv instead be my guest, but when things turn bad in any country, there are going to be people who want to be heard any way they can to try and change things.

You immediately turn to the worst choices, even in a country in where people hardly have a 'voice'.

im not saying that if some little thing happens everyone should gather on the streets and set things on fire, but i saw greece and the state people lived in and it's not good, and you cant expect everyone to be accepting of their government when it caused them to live in the conditions they're in

If you've started destroying government builds, you better be ready for a revolution, not just smashing some windows and sulking off.
Is it me, or do the Greeks always have a riot?
the definitions don't define what the disturbance is aimed at. the organized riot i went to planned to assault and take over the government's parliament building, and while it did get violent, the violence was purely aimed at the police protecting the building, and no surrounding buildings were destroyed.
So you think that every officer in the force is an evil murder who likes killing? Are you really this dumb?
So you think that every officer in the force is an evil murder who likes killing? Are you really this dumb?
That's cute. I can't wait until the revolution eats it's children.
racial segregation is blatantly against the constitution. putting austerity measures in place, or in this case, the killing of an innocent by a cop, is not. it's not like i can sue a country for killing someone i don't know
Man, I can't wait until some junta takes over again and takes care of you dumb angsty teenage communists.
So you think that every officer in the force is an evil murder who likes killing? Are you really this dumb?
uh no i dont think that, the police represent the government, and while some officers may be nice, they have to uphold the responsibility of their government
uh no i dont think that, the police represent the government, and while some officers may be nice, they have to uphold the responsibility of their government
And that's why every once in a while they have to make examples out of useless anarchists like you. Upholding social order.
uh no i dont think that, the police represent the government, and while some officers may be nice, they have to uphold the responsibility of their government
No, politicians represent the government, the police are just peace keepers.

police are a lot more than peacekeepers. they enforce the law of the government and are in fact part of the government, thus they have some responsibility of anything the government does
especially in this case, since the police were the cause of the riots

No, stupid rioters were the cause of the riots, the police are only doing what they're meant to do, which is keep the peace.
No, stupid rioters were the cause of the riots, the police are only doing what they're meant to do, which is keep the peace.
you cant keep peace by killing innocent people
you cant keep peace by killing innocent people
People were killed because stupid riots like this one.
you cant keep peace by killing innocent people
Maybe the so called "innocents" should stop destroying property, and harming people.
