There's a few around here in WA that will probably get their Native names back
however we did also say "fuck it" and use native names for most of our cities and many of the natural landmarks so it's possible that Obama will prioritize states that don't have a whole lot of native names.
There's a fuckload in WA, and there's been a wave of trying to improve it recently. Spokane Indians now use the Spokane tribes spelling of "Spokane" and their lettering for most of the jerseys and its on a lot of the advertisements as well.
Its always fun hearing out-of-towners try to pronounce some of the names though.
Denali sounds so much nicer anyway. There was probably some Manifest Destiny motivation behind naming it after a president who had no connection to Alaska and apparently never saw the mountain.
It was named that before McKinley was even elected president. The man who renamed the mountain was in the gold mining business, and apparently McKinley was a good candidate for such people.
fox news was all over shaming obama for doing this.
along with shaming obama for "wasting" time in Alaska touting "untrue" climate change business.

At some point we're going to have to just jettison such people from the planet in order to actually survive.
Why not call it as Mt Denali Mckinley. At least it pleases both sides
Literally no one would be happy with that
