that's even funnier then. he got really mad at the article and decided to tweet his catchphrase to cheer himself up but fucked up in the process
Hahaha holy shit, he's not even trying to hide it anymore.
He never was, he's been sued by New York City for racist business practices in the past. Specifically he had his employees turn away blacks that tried to rent in the nice buildings, and encourage them to rent shitty in buildings.
i wonder what will be in future history books
Either a horrific anomaly in the list of Presidents of the US, or...
...there won't be history books in the future about this.
Please never, ever take Trump's twitter from him. The more this degenerate vermin reveals of himself, the greater the violence with which he will be flung from his podium by Congress, when the time comes.
He practically already is lmao. He's been quiet on the Muslim and Mexican racism for a little while, but who can forget about the anti-semitic conspiracy theories? Or like that time he defended a picture of Hillary Clinton on a pile of cash with the Star of David with this:

Or, of course, when he defended white nationalists outright. The only thing standing between him and ethno-nationalism is him admitting it.

We do know that was a mistake at least.
that reminds me of how alt right nerds say that people doing the nazi salute are actually doing the "roman" salute

Trump isn't an anomaly, he's a symptom to far deeper problems inherent in the US. I'm concerned this could be the beginning of Americas dissolution, and we could be seeing presidential candidates with a larger variety of ideals, skills, and standards more often.

That's a thing that predates fascism. It wasn't originally an obvious dogwhistle, a lot of people thought the roman salute actually looked like that.

I experienced this in reference to a picture of dudes in Charlottesville with a nazi flag doing the salute tho

There's no record of a 'roman salute' before Mussolini came to power. He took it from a fascist play from 1919 and called it a Roman salute because of his whole 'new Roman empire' thing. It's categorically a fascist symbol.

We did this in America as well. We used to do this instead of placing our hand over our heart during the pledge of allegiance. But we stopped in 1942 for some reason.

The misconception has existed among artists since the 18th century and began to appear in plays as early as the late 19th.

This is "faggot used to mean bundle of sticks" and "gas the kikes doesn't mean kill the jews" tier arguing. If alt-righters and nazis does the "roman salute" then you can be pretty sure it's got nothing to do with romans

What the hell is your problem? I wasn't suggesting that its origins justify its use, I just said it's a misconception that predates fascism and that an uneducated fascist could very easily be convinced that it's legit.

Even if any of that was true, which is dubious, that still does not take away from the modern use. Now if they were Roman reenactors doing the salute in front of a S.P.Q.R. flag while wearing togas or some shit, the misconception of the salute being Roman would at least not be out of place. Thing is, though, they're nazis. Doing it with their nazi flags and ethnic torches. So the origin really doesn't matter, it's a nazi salute done by nazis in a display of being nazis.

So what is the point of your comment? The alt-right litteral nazis that say they use the Roman salute are definitely not doing it because it's the roman salute, so why say they might mean that?
i think trump is actually suffering from dementia or something of that sort
My 87 year old great uncle is in a better mind and demeanor than the fucking president of the United States. Boy's got 17 years on the orange and he's the fucking jolliest dude. He's battling like 7-8 different cancers right now too, most of them are skin related but that's still really impressive.

God damn everyone is so hostile in polidicks. Pretty sure he's just saying that's what some of them think or have been led to believe. Doesn't make it good or okay for them to use as an excuse. Not everyone has some ulterior motive behind what they say.
He's truly the second coming of Reagan
How could you say that? Reagan had experience and knew how to take a joke.

Damn, he is more of a badass than Trump. Definitely impressive.
It's simultaneously kinda cool and terrifying that we're.. better people than the god damn president
It's simultaneously kinda cool and terrifying that we're.. better people than the god damn president
I'd say the thing that is more "cool and terrifying" is how we are in the middle of a genuinely historic point in time in general. Like, can you imagine how nuts the History books will be in the future about the Trump presidency, especially when the Mueller investigation ends and we see the more-or-less full extent of how deep the rabbit hole goes?

There is a reason that there is a (rather apocryphal) curse of "May you live in interesting times", however. I wouldn't be upset with some boredom.

Fuck, maybe he just wanted to share something he felt was interesting?
Is that acceptable?

And I shared why I think that's a silly idea, but aparrently that's not acceptable? :v:
