People need to stop associating torrents with piracy.
that won't happen till piracy stops associating with torrents.
Linux distros and other free content come in torrent form. Not all torrents are pirated content.
While that is completely true, I think everyone knows that the vast majority of torrent downloads are for pirated shit.
People need to stop associating torrents with piracy.
Well unfortunately when one of the largest torrent trackers is called The Pirate Bay, it's pretty hard to remove the association. Sure there are countless legitimate uses of torrents, but I don't see why people try to downplay how a vast majority of torrenting is for piracy.
Torrents are like drugs. Drugs can be used for legit medical purposes but most of the time they're used to get high.
good. ads are annoying.
Holy fuck some of you guys are giant crybabies. It was just gonna be a small ad or two. They just want to make some cash, you using their software for free stuff anyways it's the least you can do. Piratebay also has ads, lots of them but I don't see you guys all mad at that.
People need to stop associating torrents with piracy.
While there certainly are torrents for non-pirated material, I think the vast majority of people who regularly torrent things are using it for piracy.
uTorrent is not a service. It doesn't need ads.
you're right all those updates and protocools made themselves
you're right all those updates and protocools made themselves
They would if utorrent was open source
They would if utorrent was open source
Nice try stallman but it doesn't work like that
Nice try stallman but it doesn't work like that
It kinda does actually.
While there certainly are torrents for non-pirated material, I think the vast majority of people who regularly torrent things are using it for piracy.
Exactly. I was a bitconfused when my friend said he was torrenting Blacklight Retribution a while back, because I thought "You can't pirate that. It's a free online game."
also, dont feel sad about their revenue. They make fucktons from the toolbar already.
You mean the one nobody uses or just installs to IE anyway - which they never use?
You mean the one nobody uses or just installs to IE anyway - which they never use?
Nobody uses it but nobody clicks on ads either.
Awesome, finally i can download more of the linux distros my grandmother wanted to watc-- i mean install
Good to see them being so cool about it. Normally people would flip over their users being so irrational, but they handled it well.
Nice try stallman but it doesn't work like that
Uh yeah it does, there are so many open source tools I can't hold all of them.
Holy fuck some of you guys are giant crybabies. It was just gonna be a small ad or two.
We're fed up with ads. We see them literally everywhere we look. We're tired of having bullshit we don't want forced down our throats from every conceivable direction. There's only so much patience someone has for being told to buy this, sue that, get a scrip for this new pill, etc etc, before we start taking steps against the deluge. I put up with ads on buses, billboards, TV to an extent(<3 my TiVO), radio, etc. Anyone who says I have to put up with them on the internet as well is fucking insane. And that's a damn good thing, because most websites have so many fucking ads spammed everywhere that A: FIrefox leaks ram and crashes every five minutes, B: It takes twice as long for a page to load, C: Every single ad is a possible way to slip malware onto my machine, D: They're bloody annoying, and E: I can't see what I went to the page for because of all the fucking ads in the way. So fuck ads.

[editline]17th August 2012[/editline]
Linux distros and other free content come in torrent form. Not all torrents are pirated content.
I'm also the only person on the internet who mainly uses torrents to actually download Linux distros.
lmfao people opposing the adverts are fucking pathetic imo, with the amount of money torrenting has saved on linux distros they shouldn't complain about seeing the occasional advert
I feel like the one person on the internet who feels morally wrong about using AdBlock Plus, and doesn't use it.
I kinda felt like that at first, but after experiencing how much cleaner web is without ads I can't go back.
I just avoid ad fucker websites. Still fair.
I feel like the one person on the internet who feels morally wrong about using AdBlock Plus, and doesn't use it.
As far as I'm aware, displaying ads and not clicking on them has exactly the same result as blocking them : the site owner makes no money.
http://www.oldversion.com/download-uTorrent-2.2.1.25302.html Just install 2.2.1 and never update again.
yeah use old software forever, nothing can possibly go wrong over the years!
Solution: Don't update utorrent.
solution: update utorrent and stop crying about it
Solution: Switch to deluge
uTorrent is terrible and I have no idea why everyone loves it. The regular bittorrent client works fine. [editline]17th August 2012[/editline]
I feel like the one person on the internet who feels morally wrong about using AdBlock Plus, and doesn't use it.
I use ABP because 90% of all sites use ads in the most irritating way possible. I have ads unblocked on Grooveshark, Facepunch, and SomethingAwful, and Google ads on every site. That's about it, because I'm really sick of removing malware that is spread through fucking java/flash ads.
im gonna let them show their ads to me because i very rarely even open the window, its mostly just minimized anyway. [editline]18th August 2012[/editline] they deserve the money
