I do.
And I knew keeping that old piece of shit around would pay off some day :)
I'd like to bump this thread as an update for anyone who was curious about this.
I just received my replacement after sending in my 1GB iPod Nano that was broken into pieces, they gave me the new 8GB iPod Nano. I'm happy, I have a new Apple toy for free. I know I'm mostly going to use for the radio.
I would have preferred to get the older iPod Nano, but they said they had a limited quantity, but besides that, I sent some broken parts for a new Nano that I can actually use.

Looks like nothing came with it. No wires/headphones/box?

Nope, but if you're sending one in they expect that you already have that stuff from when you bought the old one. Maybe so you just can't go and resell it online as new.

On the back of the iPod there is a bar code, serial number, and other information. Mine says '9699 of 11590' and '12/28' which means they just got a bunch of the actual iPods to send and ship for replacements.
I took my old 1st gen apart a couple years ago and then forgot how to put it back together. :saddowns:

Might as well give it a go. Mine was in four pieces, I fit them in as best as I could and put it in the zip-lock bag they give you as well as a return package, sticker, and instructions.

I promptly trashed it when I realized I couldn't get it back together though.
Actually this should be useful since I'm going to the workout room at school later this year, and I won't want the larger iPod Touch in my pocket bouncing around.
Returned my ages old 1st gen nano and they sent me a new 8gb 6th gen :)
I had a first gen given to me by my best friend back in Canada, and my own classmate stole it from me back in high school. I will remind him about it years in the future and guilt trip him into giving me money since he is becoming a musician and is pretty well off so far on this island.
I'm a clever bastard.
I got a 6th Gen back too, a little saddened to see the 1g disappear to the land of nod (considering the clickwheel interface was pretty damn easy to use) but still cool that they're giving us new shit.
Yes! I have two ipod nanos! One however is disassembled and the other smaller one is bent to a degree because someone sat on it lol.
At least I'll have a replacement
Turns out I have one lying around still, but it hasn't been charged in for-ever so it poses no threat. As for replacing it, I fail to see why I would want a "free" (shipping, yo) refurbished 2GB Nano when I have a newer non-explosive 8GB Nano that functions fine.
Got the nano today as well, I was pretty surprised that a got the newer touch screen one

They're already out of the old models for replacements, if you send it in now you'll be getting the newer model like I got. That is, if you want the extra one.
Replace your old, fire starting iPod, for newer model with double the radiation.
Give me free stuff apple, I have one!
Who bumped this? That being said I sent mine in a month ago.
Got my 8GB Nano about a week ago.
I miss the clickwheel, but this thing isn't so bad, actually. I find myself making regular use of it.
Was going to get a wristband for it, to use it as a wristwatch, but the local Apple Premium Reseller only has ones made of dreadful acidic-pink cheap rubber :v:
I have the old 1 gen iPod Nano, but my country isn't on the list.
Am I not worthy for this?
Apple should be sued.
Why didn't they do this 5 years ago if they knew?
UPDATE: Alas, it is not to be. You’ll be getting first-generation iPod Nanos as replacements
I'd rather keep mine (which I actually don't know if its 1st or 2nd)
It hasn't given me any trouble other than rarely needing to be restarted. Its maybe 6 years old and still works great.
I have an iPod Nano sitting dusty somewhere.. And I don't think it's gonna catch fire any day :v:
Took them pretty long
SWEET
MY MOM HAS ON HER IHOME RIGHT NOW
It's confirmed they ran out of refurbished 1st gens, they're now sending out 6th generation ones, the touchscreen ones. A friend just gave me their old iPod for free, I'm gonna send it in and turn it into a sweet watch like this.

Oh god, I traded my old first gen nano with my brother for this second gen nano I use now...
I think he still has it, I'm gonna talk to him about it, hopefully I can get one of those new shiny ones.

Do you have a link for that? The one on top looks pretty awesome.
I also showed my brother the Nano and I think he wants one too. I never knew how neat these were until I got mine. The radio works very well.

Just checked, and it's affected. Oh god, I really hope that I get the new one.
