Why does America think Osama is some kind of mothership? Like if they get rid of him all the terrorists will suddenly stop, surrender and become farmers.
Bin Laden isn't worth anything if he is even still alive in the first place. Or real. "Oh we FINALLY got the terrorist leader". Cause yeah like there arn't hundreds more who won't just step up to the plate.
My theory is still that Steve Irwin, was, and will always be the only man qualified for catching Bin Laden.
Fuck we missed our window.
who the fuck is bin laden is that like an islamic garbage man or something

Exactly. I think it was pretty stupid that they called it the 'War on Terror', it's hardly going to stop if they capture the leader, is it?
If we had gotten Bin Laden right off the bat, the war would have been over, Al Qaeda would have been gone, and Bush wouldn't have his justification for conquering Iraq. So we let him go, because him and Al Qaeda were an irresistible excuse for further invasions, the Patriot act, and all the other shit they couldn't otherwise do.
I hope they get them, America needs a morale boost.
I'm tired of overhearing kids in school about how they want to go live in Japan or some shit.

No, the war wouldn't have ended. For every casualty we inflict on these guys they see a martyr, due to their extremist beliefs. It's even possible that killing Bin Laden would have made things worse, as it would have really pissed them off. Removing one link from the chain won't stop it - you need to systematically destroy it. But we need to consider the cost, in human lives, of doing so, and whether it's really worth it.

It will continue until you say fuck it, and beat the shit outa him and his friends.

We know that wouldn't have been the end, but it would have been the beginning of a movement to pull out of Afghanistan, and it definitely would have put the breaks on conquering Iraq. To most of the US not interested in a holy war, Bin Laden was responsible for 9/11 and their interest in war stopped at bringing him to justice.

Well, that may be true. But it's also likely that Al-Qaeda would have commited more acts of terror, which would have dragged the US (and likely the UK) back into another war/peacekeeping operation. The only way to stop that cycle would be to destroy Al-Qaeda itself, not just it's leader. Or at least that's what I think, but opinions are opinions.

So Clinton let Bin Laden go as a favor to Bush? I don't get it.
