Its so fucking awful
Not to defend, but you mean like tasteless pieces of food with no spices or added preservatives?
Freshman year at my high school, the physics teacher would walk through the halls making kids throw out their energy drinks.
Good man.
I would respect the man, it seems like a bitchy thing to do, but he sounds reasonable.
After all, "I have heart burn, I think I better stop drinking monster" sounds reasonable enough, I've heard that from someone before.
They should serve Gene and Jude's then.
:colbert:
What I find so funny is how my school has a "Snack Line" filled to the brim with junk food you can buy, but turns off the vending machines during the day due to health policies.
I've had skittles taken from me during last period for that stupid rule.
And my school's food tastes fine, but in no way is it healthy. Far from it.
Yay healthy food that costs twice as much as junk food.
Fuck the health of our future generations!
This reminds me of the time when the UK government started banning junk food from schools (no rules on pack lunches though), and kids started bringing in junk food to sell to their classmates. The worst was the parents who started doing lunch runs to takeaways for their kids - and felt that they were doing their kids a favour.
I believe instilling proper nutrition into kids is important, but if their parents let them graze on junk food then it's all pointless.

Seriously. Energy drinks taste like piss, are horrible for you, and are for kids.
Now grow the fuck up and do cocaine.
I'm from Chicago. I am not pleased.
Its rad roach.
Its rad roach.
Well it did taste like old feet.
Honestly, it did.
at my school they sell pretty good tasting semi-healthy food, and the snack machines only sell baked chips and shit like that. They also only sell diet soda which is probably worse then the regular stuff.
not that it matter anymore since I can go off campus to buy mcdonalds and A&W, they seriously have like 4 fast food places near my school + a lot of local food shops.
School food sucks monkey balls
What an understatement.
kids arent allowed to make their own food choices we arent their parents but we are still adults and that means they have to listen to us why dont they want to listen to our rules that are the direct opposite of what everyone else does waah waah
[editline]11th April 2011[/editline]
fuck this school and fuck the people who decided they are better than the people who will support them when they are older than dirt
They also only sell diet soda which is probably worse then the regular stuff.
Indeed it is. Aspertame (the artificial sweetener they use) is known to cause cancer.

Everything causes cancer, so, that isn't a surprise.
What I hate is their method of thinking. They think that if they have them make healthy choices, later in life they'll repeat it.
In truth it's the opposite. They'll want a change of pace, and go for the other food more likely. People need to realize, it's not the matter of health, it's the matter of taste.

Not really.

Aspartame is fine unless you're a phenylketonuric.
My high school serves tots every single fucking day, and they suck balls.
Anything I have at home is healthier than the shit they feed kids at school. Makes me sick knowing how many preservatives are in the chicken.
I fucking eat pepperoni pizza (1, sometimes 2 slices) virtually everyday :v:. And usually an M&M ice cream sandwich to go with it. And I'm healthly (because I do Karate and eat alright at home). Food isn't everything. Lifestyle is part of it too. You can eat the healthiest foods, and still be unhealthy because of lack of exercise, stress, etc.
The cheeseburgers at my school glisten with grease. Like, you can see your fucking reflection.
You know? Healthy!
Any school that bans homemade lunches also puts more money in the pockets of the district's food provider, Chartwells-Thompson.
This should have been near the start of the article.
Although, it certainly is a good business for students. They can smuggle in snacks and shit; then they sell them to kids for huge markup. Hell, I think it'd be awesome to be some food dealing middle-schooler. I actually did that with my lunch. I'd pack a few extra sandwiches and sell them to kids for a dollar or two so I could buy ice-cream.
I remember when my brother did this with some Asian candy. Since none of the white kids knew where to buy he and a few others sold them for like a dollar a piece. When he stopped I think he had 200 dollars or something.
It's not up to the school to decide what the kids eat. Their job is to educate the students attending there.
For everything else they can fuck off.

So people would actually read it, yeah.
"Unless they have a medical excuse, they must eat the food served in the cafeteria."
get your fucking doctor to write a (fake) legal-looking document stating that you have an allergy and must bring only food that "does not contain inordinate amounts of protein, calcium, iron, or any of the vitamins A through e"
inordinate meaning any amount higher than 5%
