Why do the Chinese get to trade with Americans and Cubans not?
Because Cuba isn't as conductive to free enterprise.
Because Cuba isn't as conductive to free enterprise.
Uh so?
Uh so?
Well the people there are poor. Maybe allowing them to trade and migrate and investing into the country might actually help? Also other side laws. You know, free speech or freedom of assembly or identity.
China is the same if not worse?
Well yeah except the Chinese are slowly reforming that. For a Chinese man in the city, whilst his wages are low and his health is poor, at least it's improving. We saw the same thing in the 1800s in Europe. China /will/ reform or end up having a really bloody revolution once people get fed up. It will be the same with Cuba.

Cuba is pretty much florida for canadians
also isn't cuba basicly socialist now instead of communist, if the castros would just freekin retire/die already then they could move forward already
Firstly, every "communist" country is socialist, because communism is a form of socialism. Beyond that, no country has been communist. What you call communist- I'm guessing the USSR and china etc etc- is a form of state socialism. It's not communism, never has been. Socialism is not "communism light", so no, Cuba is not "basically socialist instead of communist"- it is and always was, arguably, socialist. But it is reformist and is gradually leaning more and more towards social democracy, at the helm of this are the Castros. Fidel has made a number of progressive and liberal reforms that have lead to a more liberal culture and political system and economy, and Raul has spearheaded this even further to the point where some are arguing that Cuba is simple a perverted form of state capitalism now more than ever.
;41729531']Difference between Cuba and China is that Cuba has some of the best standard of living in Central/South America and the government is actually widely supported, even if there are demands for reforms which are slowly being met.
Only because Cuba firstly inherited the prior regimes healthcare systems and infrastructure, was initially wealthy, and had USSR subsidies. When the Soviet Union collapsed, places like Cuba and North Korea fell to pieces and never really recovered, with the government begrudgingly being forced to adopt free market reforms and/or tolerate black market activities. Plus there's the fact that countries like Venezuela subsidize Cuba. Cuban healthcare, whilst good, has hardly actually improved in the past few decades. Other countries (mostly European) are overtaking it, with the result being that Cuban healthcare is in relative (but not absolute) decline.
