Except that it's the size of a shipping container
Even better, now we can build giant robots.
Lockheed doesn't just make military vehicles and items you know... Anyway most things that start as Military projects end up in the civilian market.
prime example is the GPS and laser base detector gadgets.
this is great news, hopefully both this and LENR news turns to be true and fast development to delivery ensue
So how long till we get a warp core?
Isn't NASA starting work on the alcumbrie drive?
Isn't NASA starting work on the alcumbrie drive?
Not seriously. And it's Alcubierre.
How come WhollyRufus isnt banned yet
No you're right, we should continue to use fossil fuels as an energy crutch instead, and pump out absolutely staggering amounts of CO2 as opposed to have effectively 100% clean energy based on the principle that a defense contractor shouldn't be the one to make it, so that while people die due to the effects of climate change and pollution, the rest of us fortune enough to not get dicked by our own arrogance and pride as a species can sit back with a warm fuzzy. If that's how you feel that's how you feel, but personally I've got to make it known, you're a fucking moron.
Oil is also subject for much more conflict than hydrogen could ever be.
This is awesome. It makes us one step closer to colonization of Solar System. I don't care who achieved this as long as all Humanity will benefit from it. Chances that i will make a moonwalk on Luna just seriously raised!
But in all seriousness; no one should celebrate that such an important step in mankind's energy development will be in the hands of a... defense contractor. Regardless of your opinion on Russia and China.
What fusion tech that doesn't get funded by military things? Inertial confinement fusion is a way they could simulate nuclear explosion without actually use nukes, you know, warhead stewardship and stuff Polywell is funded by the Navy Z Machine? Same as ICF, nuke sim GPS was designed for missile navigation btw

it also seems like he is implying that if russia developed this it wouldn't have been a military invention fucking lol how dumb do you have to be
I don't think you guys understand my point: Businesses like these need conflict, or the very imminent risk of conflict, to survive. If there is none then such businesses are among the first with real incentive to create it. Almost like the bad guy from Tomorrow Never Dies but more subtle.
you're delusional if you think this is the case I work for a defense contractor, we started off (like lockheed martin, raytheon, northrop grumman, etc) as solely making stuff for the military, and like pretty much all defense contractors, started into the civilian market specifically because there isn't always conflict or a need for new military hardware. We've moved into making things for the industrial sector, amusement parks, non-military government agencies like NASA, and the medical sector. as you noted, defense contractors like profits, and as much as you might think to the contrary, it's far easier and better for PR to start shifting development to technology for civilian markets than it is to encourage conflict. A lot of R&D is shifting over to civilian markets because new government contracts are drying up
I think the most impressive part for me is the 10 000 000 X Energy Production. I can barely even comprehend that sort of jump.
this is great news, hopefully both this and LENR news turns to be true and fast development to delivery ensue
LENR is bogus

Sign me the fuck up!
Of course we will! How do you think we are where we are in the first place? We outspend EVERYBODY.
Everybody except the USSR :v:
Everybody except the USSR :v:
nonsense, how do you think we won the cold war?
nonsense, how do you think we won the cold war?
By lying.
