this game is pretty great, on the list of problems that is has controls are way down but it's still great
A list of problems, and that it's way down must mean it's a big list.
Are you saying the game has a lot of problems?
I'm a left handed gamer, this would be REALLY annoying. The fact that you can't change options on some games is fucking ridiculous. Options are there to make the gameplay easier and more fun.
I'm a left handed person too, and I have no problem using the WASD keys, I got used to it.
oh cool you're on of those people who are stuck in the 90's thinking graphics still don't make a difference when it comes to video games. wake the fuck up, this is the 21st century, everyone expects games to have a state of the art graphics system and a developer who doesn't invest in a clearly important aspect of games really shows you his dedication level.
Would you rather have a:
a) Fun game that doesn't have good graphics
or
b) A bad game with good graphics
Hell, I don't think the graphics in Dead Rising 2 are THAT bad.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Capcom\Dead Rising 2\data\controls
Control maps are in there stop complaining.
Just finished this in co-op with a friend. Encountered one bug that involved me getting stuck in a pillar and that was honestly it.
Excellent port if I'm honest. Despite the menus feeling very consolated, the gameplay and controls felt very suited to the PC.
Ran well, played well, looked good, didn't break. All I can really ask of it.
Are the shadows as shitty as they look in this picture?

It's not a dealbreaker, but it's a bit of an annoyance to have pixely shadows like that.
I don't see them looking that bad when I play but I don't stare for them.

No. At least I never noticed them being like that.
You can increase the shadow quality above it's default of "Medium" (which I assume is the setting it would be at on a console?).
Don't analyse screenshots too much.
For a start they'll be taken on a console and lack features that your graphics card can put into place automatically on any 3D application.
Second, they're static images. In motion you won't notice any of it.
Also, it's thirdperson, the camera is suitably far away from textures that they can afford to be a lower resolution or lower quality than those of a first-person shooter.

The screenshot was actually taken from the PC build. You can tell by the keys on the screenshots. But the shadows don't look that bad anyways.
Also, no problems with the default keys for me. I think all games should force controls on you like this tbh. I hate how PC games aren't pick up and play. I hate having to change a bunch of options before playing.
I would be completely fucked because I'm left handed.
I hear a lot of criticism about this game so here is my take on it so far.
I haven't had any problems with the controls to be honest. The fact that I couldn't change them puzzled me at first but I realized that the way the controls were setup were pretty much perfect. I got used to them real fast and really the only thing that took some getting used to was pulling off those combo moves which are simple enough.
The graphics are decent. They aren't great but they aren't bad like they are in the screenshots. In-game you hardly notice any of the low-resolution textures. I actually had to read this thread to notice the pixelated shadows, so again I say you hardly notice it.
grow up
It's you who needs to grow up.

And those of you complaining about the controls, explain to me how this control scheme is SOOOOOO different?
Mouse 1: Attack/Shoot.
Mouse 2: Aim mode (Hold)
W: Move forward/Accelerate.
S: Move backward/Reverse.
A: Move left.
D: Move right.
E: Use/Grab item.
X: Drop item.
Scroll Up (or down)/1-3: Switch weapons.
Space: Jump.
Is this really that much of a difference? Seems like the default PC controls on practically every game out there to me.
Q would be a better drop item. Why the hell would I want to push x which is below s to drop something.
Q would be a better drop item. Why the hell would I want to push x which is below s to drop something.
Q is for commanding survivors which fits better.
Me and a friend played coop for like 4 hours today. We gambled and made about $1,400,000 total profits. :V
Honestly the controls are fantastic and you can rebind them in settings anyways. If you're not playing this for graphics/controls (even though you can rebind them) then you're SEVERELY missing out.
I think it is pretty good port, though sometimes I forget which button did what. But as TheCombine hinted this game needs support for left handed players.

Graphic wise I would want bodies staying longer.
While there is no key configuration screen, as I already said in the RPS DR2 thread, we often say the best part of PC gaming is being able to mod games.
Well changing controls for DR2 is editing a text file or 2 in Dead Rising 2\data\controls
so which is it gonna be?
Minor effort to tweak the controls to your liking, or games handing everything on a platter ready for you? (in which case get a console because I like PC gaming kthx)
